He's not saying, he's threatening. Read between the lines. He's clearly saying if Nintendo doesn't give what baby wants, baby is going to throw a tantrum and get it out there anyway by using flash cards to promote it. It's basically blackmail.

I think nintendo should trick him with a complex plan that ends in him being rick'rolled.

I think he should be sent a DVD from nintendo with all the SDK packaging, only to realize that installs some hard disk crashing virus that plays the rickroll video and ends with Satoru Iwata flicking him off and laughing.

+1.
This is what he SHOULD have done:
with his skills he could have done good to society.
Or polish his skills by taking classes/etc.:\
But no.
He instead shut himself a room and made that lame excuse for a game. and DEMANDS that Ninty give him the SDK because he made that lousy example of a game.
What's more, there is NO demo AT ALL. Only that video which shows:
PEOPLE WITHOUT PROPER NAMES(only one person has at least a name.)WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING AND POSSIBLE TALKING TO BOXES
He is expecting people(or Ninty, rather) to concede to his demands of a SDK and "publish" his sorry excuse of a game.

Amazingly i was writing on a piece of paper on why i agree/disagree why the world is full of selfish people.....(it was an assignment and oh crap, i forgot to add this to it. there goes my marks. oh well.)

He's being stupid, who wants to release a game based on the creator releasing a "trailer" and the creator's words, as "words" may be(or probably MUST BE) bloody exaggarated. What if they release it and the game sucks?

hope he dies in his room.

OK, I really disagree with bunch of you, and although I don't agree with Bob at all, and his new stand, I won't allow such mindless bashing that you guys are doing here!

WHAT THE HELL?!?! Is that constructive posting? Is that normal talk??

No, but ridiculous actions call for ridiculous responses. I mean, this guy is flat-out off his rocker as it is, and is resorting to pretty dubious tactics to get his way (and it's likely that won't even work so he could very well die in his room if he tries hard enough here). Yeah, I know it's good that he worked on this game for five whole years on his own, but his demands to get an SDK, especially his tactics now, are not helping his case at all. Not to mention that while it looks good on its own, what is there to do? Is there a demo? Would it even sell? Nintendo and other companies don't hand out SDK kits to just anyone. In most cases, you have to pay for it, and even then, if you make a game, there's no guarantee that you're going to get past the initial interest stage.

Personally, even if he does somehow get the kit, I don't see the game doing well. As stated, all you do is walk around town and talk to people, if that. That's it? Five years and that's all there is? Mind you, the trailer didn't really do much and we haven't had a demo at all of the work, so everything is hearsay. As I said earlier/elsewhere, all the effort in the world doesn't make a game good. Should he be rewarded for his efforts? Of course, but he's blown that chance in my eyes by throwing this big tantrum.

To all haters saying his game looks crap, well, at least he tried. Think of all the effort he put into his project, from the music, graphics, coding, storyline etc. only for everyone to turn it down before even playing it. I'm not on his side or anything and I do think he's a bit of a nut case but I feel kinda sorry for him.. he didn't think his strategy out all to well.

I thank that it's an amazing thing he's accomplished, however, it just doesn't meet the standards of being called good quality. The world looks huge but lacks any real life, the graphics look OK but the animations are poor and the color choice is not the best. The music is kinda good. I just don't think he's done enough to say that it's done.

I think this is very sad, considering all of the shovelware that's released on almost a weekly basis. I think they should give him a chance.

I'd be pretty out of it if I utilized 5 or 15 years making a game, and then having it shot down like that.
I'm sympathetic to how he feels, unlike a lot of people here.

stranger things have happened in the game industry. And realistic or not, Id be glad if he got to make his game.

But wth are people seeing the same game I see in the demos. To me the game looks like it would be fun. It reminds me of the old sierra games like space quest and such. Except he's promised to provide a whole host of well designed characters. And its the small touches like the main character growing older. I feel this game would be great fun to play.

Look I have sympathy only as far as he put five years into something and got his little dream shot down because quite frankly he went about it the wrong way. That's really where I draw the line as I can't feel sorry for someone acting like a child, a terrorist, and a blackmailer.

Calling him a terrorist is completely unrealistic, and seems unnecessary. Sure, he's not acting professionally about this whole ordeal, and acting very childish, but in no way are his actions harming anybody besides himself.

Terrorism isn't just blowing up crap you know. The concept basically is to fanatically make demands and attack an entity by some means to attempt to gain the end to the means you want one way or the other. He's doing that by threatening Nintendo by going through and doing an unlicensed release packed in with flash cards to teach them a lesson if they don't give him what he demands, an SDK. He basically has his ends to a means one way or the other (kit or bootleg for release) and his tool so far are threats. He PR wise on a small scale is harming Nintendo because it's making them look evil for blowing off this so called amazing game maker who they supposedly baited into thinking they'd give a kit and then went on and ignored him. And if they did bow down and give it to him at this rate, then it would also PR wise hurt Nintendo because then more idiots and cranks would see a path on how to act like a child to get what they want out of the big bad corporation so either way Nintendo is damned if they do or don't due to his behavior.

ahaha i don't think something as petty act like this will affect the whole Nintendo corp. Maybe a small section, like the information center! ahahaha ;]

actually I missed that bit on his site. Has he really threatened an illegal release? And how does he expect this to hurt nintendo (other than them not making any money on HIS game)

He deserves to get that SDK!
Next, he deserves his game to get pirated, and to flop in stores.

It's one thing to want to publish a game, but his gall.
Someone who writes something like this and means it...

I am a GENIUS, and I will be around for the next 40 years- eating away at your company until it exists no longer.
I will find way after way to slowly destroy your bottom line, and your business will fail.
The name NINTENDO will be forgotten, a discarded husk like so many others.
"bob's game" will live on FOREVER.

Also the whole
QUOTE"bob's game" is a game by ONE PERSON, and it's one of the GREATEST GAMES EVER MADE- if not THE BEST.
I stand alone on a mountain no other has even dared to climb. I have swam across the ocean only cruise ships could cross.
I have walked through the desert of no return. I have stepped in the footprints of none, a path never taken.
I have MADE HISTORY, and history cannot be undone. It's too late, Nintendo.
thing?

Gee whiz nobody ever made a game singlehandedly.
No sir, pixel did not make Cave Story (which is awesome) in 5-ish years. And so what if he did. Not like it's coming to Wii, like as WiiWare. WHOOPS IT IS.
No SIR. ZUN did not make any Touhou/Project Shrine Maiden games. He did not make 11 god damn games ALL BY HIMSELF. WHOOPS HE DID, AND HE SELLS THEM.

edit:
whoo 100th post. And spent doing what I like best.

After reading that, he really has drilled his rep into the ground. What game company would want to take this guy on... he is WAY too big-headed. Like it'll ever top games such as the legendary Zelda OOT...

Ahh i just found this:

"I’m sure Nintendo is taking his request even more seriously now. Because it often allows crazy people to develop for its consoles.

Get well soon, you big mentalist."

Lol he's gone Mad.

And i don't think now he's gona sell it he got a bit too motivated. I mean he should at least wait the 100 days before doing something like that

FAIL because:

game was never meant to be played by others
game's only purpose is to be published, boxed and shrink wrapped, turned into a monument by creator, ignored by everyone else
game has too many YUUs
game's creator is an asspie

Usual method: Develop game idea / game beta / game demo, copyright it, approach publishers, get SDK and funding, release game, hope*.

His method: troll the net with obnoxious idiocy.

GUESS WHICH ONE WORKS!

* This may or may not work, but it's the method to employ. See Payback GBA, for example. Two people working on it for 5 years before it was picked up by a game publisher and released.
