I've not updated my 3ds retroarch cores for a good couple of months, so I'm a little out of touch with developments.
As I mentioned, there are a few different snes emus to choose from in the retroarch stable (although, other than Catsfc, I can't remember the names)...
I found them in the Retroarch nightlies thread:
  • catsfc has 60fps on n3DS
  • catsfc plus has better sound but poorer framerate
  • snes9x has poorer compatibility
I'm totally happy with the catsfc core. I can't believe I'm playing DKC at full speed on a handheld. That alone was worth the price of hardmodding and the time taken to set up CFW :)

You got yours hardmoded? how much?

Yeah it was on 9.8 when I got it and I didn't want to risk bricking to downgrade. Only cost me £25 to hard mod it and now I'm on 10.4 emunand :)
I saw your post saying what a good job gamesquest did - he may get my business at some point in the future too... but I only got around to downgrading my n3dsxl last night and am waiting for a new 64gb sd to arrive before I install emunand/cfw on it.

There's another snes core in retroarch that I think must've been forgotten in the nightlies OP - Pocketsnes (but I've not used it).

Since you've already successfully downgraded, as long as you keep a NAND backup safe you might never need a hard mod. You can just have it done if you need it and then restore the back up you took. But it is nice to have it there and know there's nothing you (or Nintendo) can do to kill your NAND ;)

Oh thanks! I'll take a look at it.
