Hacking Black wii D3-2 replacement

I've got the D3-2 too, but I don't really care that much. I play games from a hard disk drive via usb. And in the long run it becomes cheaper too than buying a dvd mainboard plus the needed empty DVD-Rs.

EDIT: the only downside is that I can't play GC backups but if I wanted to I might as well buy the gamecube console then, those don't cost much nowadays.

so basically... did anyone yet tried to softmod replaced D2C DVD board with success? I don't want to buy it until I'm not sure if it's possible.

That happens to me tons of times, I just get a replacement drive from eBay for ~$46 shipped and I swap it in.

i tried changing my logic board (red wii) with a different model to play back up games and the boards were different. everything would have worked but the cord that hooks up to the lens dvd reader was a smaller size.

Then you prolly have a D4 drive, it got a smaller board. But you still should be able to switch the whole drive.

Nope, that's a D3 drive. You will need a D2 drive or older.

is there any use for this Wii Drive Replacement Boards (PCB) - DMS/D2A/D2B/D2C that I bought?

I was told by the store that it would work on my red wii. once I opened my red wii i discovered the logic board is different to the board that was sold to me.

modchipcentral.com says they will refund my card. They're now the best mod company in Canada in my opinion to buy from

Yep the board is different, you would need another drive to do this...

Okay I'll be getting my hands on a GC2-DMS.dvd drive next week. I will be replacing my GC2-D4 with the other drive.

please, someone else tell me the good news that the gc2-dms drive will play gamecube dvd-rs and dvds;
After I open both wiis up switch drives AND both wiis will continue to work after swapping drives.

You don't even need a modchip, you can just do it with softmod
