Let me say this first. I don't want to start any big arguments, I would just like to hear people's opinion on this. Recently I noticed a thread about requests that some people wish to make to the BigBlueBox team for eShop games. As a reaction to that, some people even expressed their desire for the application that extracts (and possibly decrypts) the 3ds games from memory that the team use, for illegal distribution online. Let's not ignore the elephant in the room, we know why most of us are here and why we spend money on things like the Gateway etc.

What I am trying to figure out is why do people think BigBlueBox shouldn't give out their means of extracting eShop games? Even every low quality retail game has been ripped and uploaded online. Why don't people want to see more of eShop games showing up online? If it's truly for fears of piracy, then BigBlueBox team shouldn't have released any eShop games at all. Why only a few? I am not that desperate for eShop games, it's just that I struggle to find a logical explanation to all this.

So, if you think I am missing something please shout. Peace!

Thanks

It's not as simple as cartridge dumping. Exposing the method may also expose any exploits needed to do so. Not exactly a smart idea.

AES-CTR key to decrypted nand and mount it in windows, right ? :3
I don't have the AES-CTR key directly but I generated a xor pad on the 3DS.

By the way the releases most likely come form some other method because it would be stupid to release them as cia files.

ADD : no I will not release any dumps or how it works (don't pn me) (I hacked the 3DS because of home-brew and cheats)

Hmm very interesting, thank you :]

also releasing the pokemon 1.2 patch as a .3ds would be pointless :ha:
if it was possible to apply the decrypted patch to a decrypted rom it might be worth releasing a 1.2 patched rom for people who don't have the patch, but releasing just a update in 3ds format is pointless
