As per your suggestion I downloaded the non-fakesigned IOS30v2576 and tried to install it only to be given a message that the task was not completed =/
Actually, darkcorp was your hunch first time around haha. However I can assure you that this Wii was bought brand new, never refurbished, returned used, or on display as a demo unit. Apart from the first time I tried to mod the Wii, no one else has tinkered with it. This Wii stays at my parent's house and they only use it for Wii Sports and Wii Fit :)

Yes I was very surprised to see the new model. I will check if the box has any seals. If not I will open it. If it does have seals I will tell the people to return it to the shop saying they have gamecube games and/or dancemat controllers. Update in a few mins.

UPDATE: Well no seals on the box but I did not unpack it yet as it is not my Wii. I did however take some pictures.

UPDATE 2: This wii was bought on october 7 at Mediamarkt in Holland and as in the announcements said it is a horizontal model and as far as I can tell it is missing the gamecube ports. Official name seems to be Wii family edition.

Hi all.

I can confirm that this new Wii model is also already available to purchase in Portugal.

Best regards to all.

Tacoaru: There is something strange going on with your wii. Grab this file, put it in the root of your SD card (remove any other boot.elf/boot.dol files) and launch it via letterbomb. It will show a lot of numbers on the screen, they're not really important but it should also write a file called dlog.txt to the SD card. Paste the contents of that file here once you've done it.

Thanks for helping out tueidj! Frankly I wouldn't know where to begin fixing Tacoaru's problem so you're input is very much appreciated.

I've always respected you for your knowledge, but I must say that over the past few weeks I've grown to like you a lot as a person. This isn't my way of hitting on you, so don't get scared off, lol. Anyways, I just wanted to say I really like the new you and I'd be proud to call you a friend. Kudos.

Alrighty! I tried tueidj's instructions multiple times but all I got was this.

Opening boot.elf:
boot.elf not found (-1), trying boot.dol
reading 281536 bytes...
Done.
Valid DOL image detected.

Exception 0300 occurred.

Indeed it can. It's able to play original GC and Wii games. It's able to connect and see whether there's an update or not. Channels work with the exception of the Shopping channel, which won't connect and instead gives an error code (specific code escapes me atm). Other than that, my Wii seems to abhor homebrew with a passion :)

Well, that crash is of the "this can't happen" variety. The only way it could occur is if the program isn't loaded into memory properly which has two possible causes: faulty memory or faulty source. Since the wii can run games ok that would seemingly rule out faulty memory, leaving the source - your SD card. Try a different card if you've got one, or at least try clean formatting the one you've been using (though, if it's giving random data errors I don't think this will help).

For some reason my CoverFloader stopped working, it would just take me to a black screen. I tried a couple of things like updating it, removing it and putting it back on there (probably useless but I have no idea how to manage those types of programs...), but nothing worked. I finally broke down and used this.

Wow! Compared to the last time I modded my Wii several years ago this was a breeze! I've recommended it to my friends and will be donating a little once I scrounge up some money for myself. Thank you (and all others involved)! I can play my game backups again and so much more.

The only issue I have is by default Wiiflow doesn't work with a USB drive when I run ModMii, it's looking for WBFS1 and cannot be changed. Updating it to one of the newer revisions works like a charm.

Is there a way to test for faulty memory?
Apart from that I'll probably give up trying to mod this Wii. I tried 4 different Non-SDHC cards 1-2gigs (Sandisk, Kingston, Toshiba, Kodak) and they all crash when running boot.dol so the culprit must likely be in the Wii itself. Oh and I tested the shop channel again. The error code is 205927 if that helps any. All the other channels work fine.

Can you copy a savegame (from any game, doesn't matter) to the SD card and upload it somewhere?

Edit: I would also be interested to see if anyone else can get that boot.dol program that I posted to crash when run from letterbomb... you don't need to post the logfile, just test to see if it works.
