Hacking Best Way to Mod Any Wii: ModMii for Windows: Official Support Thread

A bit late since I've done it 2 weeks ago, but a big thank you for this.

Some guy updated our Wii to 4.3 (and it was without any previous mods either) and while it would've been better if he kept it at 3.4... what's done is done. 4.3 virgin Wii. Nightmare.

I had to buy LEGO Star Wars though, good thing it was on sale. Plus my 6 y/o sister likes the game. Win-win. Now to buy a dedicated HDD!

I used modmii to rehack my wii and everything went great and smooth. I also downloaded the newest version of neogamma from modmii as well.
I currently have neogamma r8 as a wii channel. How do i get the new version on my wii as a channel. I understand that i use a wad file, i think? What cios to i use?
I basically want to play discs-back wii discs and back up gamecube maybe?

You need to find a Neogamma forwarder channel (your current channel could also be a forwarder channel, I don't know). The forwarder channel will launch whatever version u have saved on the SD\USB. Just download the forwarder wad, launch your Wad Manager (ie. MMM), select a patched IOS (ie. 236), then install the wad you want. Only install WADs from trusted sources.

To backup Wii Games, u can use a usb-loader. To backup GC games, you should use "CleanRip", just google for it (it can also backup Wii Games).

I have a forwarder channel in my neogamma autoboot mod package in this thread:

be sure to only install the forwarder channel, because there's also a wad in the bundle with neogamma embedded directly into the channel (not a forwarder).

Also, just so u are aware, the main difference between r8 final and r9 is just hacks for gamecube games. If u don't care about that, then I'd recommend you consider using my autoboot mod with is based on r8 final

1 question. I have a lot of original games that I would like to put on my USB drive, is there anyway to do this without having to rip them. And if so how? Btw I'm a total noob to all this!

@Jamesy: Why not just rip them? How else would you expect to get them onto your USB HDD?

@delvis: Which IOS's did you download with which bases, also what games did you try.. And does this happen with games through Disc drive, or only usb load?

@delvis, I don't have that game personally, but I think I've heard others say that unplugging the microphone and plugging it back it may help. Or maybe it was to make sure the microphone isn't plugged in when you first power on the Wii. You can also try changing the settings for that game to launch using cIOS223 instead of 249, it may help, but probably not. Sorry I can't offer much more advice than that, you may have better luck asking for help in the cfg usb loader thread (or whatever loader your using).

Thx. Sorry for the dumb question but I'm guessing I would have to rip them through my pc with a special lg drive? Which I haven't got unfortunately. I was under the impression that I could do this using my wii drive and some program installed using modmii? I'm not at home ATM and have no way to read my custom instructions sorry.

Yes, just use cleanrip or cfg loader.

Go to Wii/SD and it ask me to launch the program?

it will also upgrade the system to 4.1U as i selected in ModMii installer, right?

Is this in my wii menu? From what you say running modmii etc I've already done this.
I've modded my wii and can play games from my USB drive fine, but I wanted to know where, on my wii, is the app/program to allow me to put an original in and transfer it to my USB through my wii drive?

If you have selected 4.1U as the destination firmware, then your systemmenu will be upgraded to 4.1U
