i stopped using linux a few years ago, i never really liked windows, but atm i'm using 7-ultimate
i've also got and older pc with an xp-64bit, if u need performance and compatibility with some of the older stuff, it still works like a charm

Thank for making this thread. Sometime solutions are simple... you just have to think about it. I have been looking to upgrade my sempron 3000+ to a better cpu but the only upgrades are Athlon 64 bit. Which is a problem because I have to change OS. now, 2+2= Ubuntu 64bit. wow thanks

Nope, an Athlon 64 bit supports 64 bit OSs, but it also supports 32bit as well as 16bit code meaning that there will be no issues with 32bit OSs.

I liked Windows 7 but Mac OSX the best due to no virus and easily to installed and uninstalled. MAC OSX is good for beginners. I will go with both windows 7 and mac osx.

Meh, Windows Vista/7 and OS X are tied for me. I use Mac for general stuff and iOS programming and Windows when I want to get some work done.

Hackintosh all the way!

Mac is not 100% virus-proof, it's just that there are less likly because there arn't that many people who use mac's and so there is no point in making a virus: this doesn't mean there won't be either.

I'm a windows user, but to be honest, if Ubuntu ever comes to have the same functionality (for games and power users)(Meaning official recognition/development by major conglomerates) then I'd switch to it in a heart beat.

High5 for Hackintoshes! Mine's fully operable but it won't freakin' go to sleep. Harddrives won't shut up.

That's not quite what I meant. Yes, there are few viruses for OSX. No, it's not entirely because of it's smaller user base, but that's another debate. What I meant was that saying one OS is better than another because it has "no viruses" is retarded. If you go out with that mentality, it doesn't matter what OS you have, you can get screwed. People make it out like you can't go on the internet for 5 minutes without getting a virus on Windows but all of a sudden when they use OSX or Linux they're invincible.

Windows? Guys, you make me laugh so hard.

I blame inexperience.
Because it's completely unexpected that many users on a public internet forum would use the OS with ~90% market share, right?

You must get a lot of laughs.

I'm multi-OS orientated. I use both Ubuntu as Windows 7.
