I like NO$GBA.

Although I don't donate and will never have the latest version, I find it works very well for DS emulation and GBA emulation.

We just went through this. No$GBA is no longer being updated, you can't donate anymore and therefore you probably DO have the latest version.

1. No$GBA
2. DeSMUME

I highly recommend No$ GBA as so many games have been hacked to play around it.

Many people say No$GBA but I recommend you to have both emulators because some games doesnt run No$GBA.. I will not name which games but I am telling you to use both emulators. I have the latest version of No$gba 2.6a and the latest newest DeSmuMe. They are both an excellent emulators!

I have DeSmuMe and it is very fast emulator at least for my 2 years old computer. Some people run it slow but you have to understand DeSmuMe:

What are the recommended hardware requirements for DeSmuME?

The following configuration should assure that almost every game can be played at full speed:

* Windows OS: Windows XP or newer
* Linux OS: Any recent Linux distribution with a 2.6 kernel.
* 3 GHz Core2 Duo processor or better
* 512 MB Available RAM
* Available Hard Drive Space: A few MB for DeSmuME, 100MB or so for a bunch of savestates and savefiles.
* Sound Card.
* Microphone.

In general, the better a CPU, the better the performance. The faster the memory, the better. DeSmuME benefits a little but from multiple cores but not as much as it does individual cores being faster. DeSmuME is slower than no$gba, and is likely always to be.

You should get No$GBA 2.6a (The latest one) and DeSmuMe 0.9.6 (with latest svn version). ENJOY!

1. Your computer is crappy. DeSmuME runs best with multi-core CPUs.
2. Hacked versions hurt the developer. And you can't really be 100% sure that it plays the latest games, because it's probably some random person hacking it.
3. DeSmuME is actually updating. In fact, it updated just recently. You're probably using an old version.

Anyways, I recommend DeSmuME. It's being worked on by Normmatt (maker of AKAIO), so you can expect quality (Normmatt is somewhat of a perfectionist). But if you have an über crappy computer (like I do

), I recommend NO$GBA only because it has lower system requirements.

DeSmuME is the best it's what i used before i got a flashcard and never had a problem with lag or games crashing
the same can not be said for NO$GBA.

IMO, DeSmuME is the best DS emulator. It has nearly perfect compatibility, though, its speed does kinda hurt on slower computers, but the games still do run perfectly. DeSmuME is also having Wi-Fi implemented, making it the first DS emulator to have such a feature, that has to give it a big bonus for being number 1 right?

I used DeSmuME when it was nearly brand new, so it was pretty bad back then. I downloaded it again not too long ago, and it fit my needs perfectly. No$GBA is another good choice, as I used that for a while too. The settings you'll have to use to get some games to work will be quite annoying, though.

Desmume is the best emulator for me whatever my PC is slow. No$gba is number 1 best emulator for many games except some black screen function because the Anti Piracy just likes Pokemon HG & SS!

Not only POKEMON! Some other games has black screen on No$gba likes Iron Man 2, Digimon Story Lost Evolution etc... will playable on Desmume! Slow emulation is doesn't matter. Very important is the game itself!

no$gba always was, is and always will be the best

How exactly can that always be the best when it has absolutely terrible sound emulation and is no longer actively being developed?

The developers donation site doesn't even work anymore either.
