So um whats the best DS emulator out at the moment?
also please give a link to it XD Thanks
if you mean for the pc go with either iDeaS or DeSmuME or NO$GBA works too.
No$gba is probably the best at the moment, but if you don't donate then you'll always be one update behind.
No$gba is long since abandoned and apparently dead, it hasn't been updated in years, and the author's paypal account has apparently been take down, so you can't donate and get a newer version. Definitely not the best anymore, it has been outdone already by a lot. It's fast, that's about all i'll give it, and it allows most of the cheat codes you see in the database.
Desmume is definitely the best. You need a fairly good CPU to emulate it well, like around 3ghz dual core (recommend core2duo or Athlon II). Not too stressful on graphics card, i get pretty much full speed most of the time on a Radeon 4350, which is pretty weak (i get no difference in speed with or without filters either).
There are SVN updates too, but you'll have to find and compile the sources on your own. They are updated constantly.
I second granville! DeSmuMe is currently the best DS emulator out there!
Hope I helped!
I'll +1 that as well
- don't really use it THAT much (only if I want to do video grabs of games & stuff like that)
but found it easy to use - Just start up & click/drag ROM onto it
Just wish the 'sound' could be improved, sometime it 'crackles' especially on video grabs but that could be my PC's fault - Slow CPU ??
Hehehe - took me back, I remember time when DS emulator needed the uber fast computer and rand 80% speed and phoenix wright had graphic problems and EBA was unplayable...
Looong way we gone there.
No$GBA is dead... so long good DS introducing buddy
Go with whatever these gentlemen say you to get...
Nocash or desmume
I have a question about Desmume - what exactly do you do after you download the one for Windows? I've extracted and looked everywhere, but I can't find it.
NO$Zoomer works well, too.
Thats just a program thats linked to no$gba to make the screen bigger, it not an actual emulator.
Exactly how did you extract it? If you ran a self-extracting installer then it would say where the default extraction directory would be. So if that is the case run the installer again to see where it is. Otherwise use WinRAR to extract the archive to the place you want it.
For game playing DeSmuME is probably going to be the overall better choice since NO$ has been discontinued AFAIK because of leaks. :/
Well it does have a few enhancements like filters, and i think you can add in some game fixes or something to it. But yeah, it's basically a frontend with a few new options. Still doesn't help that no$ is extremely outdated. The sound was never fixed either, sounds horrid and garbled on many games. It certainly wins in speed contests though, it's extremely fast and can run on pretty weak PC's. Desmume requires a fairly decent PC to run well. It slows down sometimes even on mine (95% of games are fullspeed, but intensive games can have issues).
I like NO$GBA.
Although I don't donate and will never have the latest version, I find it works very well for DS emulation and GBA emulation.
I fixes some games, like Spirit Tracks.
I used WinRAR, and get this:
Warning: Spoilers inside!
You downloaded the source code and not the program itself. Download the appropriate binary.
No$gba is the best.
Since No$GBA is no longer in development, it is unlikely to improve.
I recently tried out DeSmuMe and although slightly slower than No$GBA, it is actively being developed, has had a recent new release and the sound is 100% better than No$GBA. I hope DeSmuMe continues to improve and I fully recommend that one. I know this thread is a few months old but I have just gotten into emulation again and although I own 2 Ds units, I sometimes like a quick game on my laptop.
