Nexus S looks nice but has no micro SD slot and isn't out yet, HTC Desire HD looks really nice but if you want a qwerty keyboard then you could get the HTC Desire Z

Go for the HTC desire Z or HD. I've got the Z right now, and I love it to bits. It just does everything for you, and it's one of the only android models with a qwerty keyboard, which means nice browsing and fast texting.

I'd also recommend the Desire Z, very nice phone
soz for the late reply, by the time i posted this thread i went out and got the lg gt540 (on contract with the carphone warehouse)

its £12 per month btw.

i currently looking for an Android also,
my contract is almost over...25per-month.

Looking at the HTC Desire HD or Samsung galaxy s. Both look pretty amazing, a lot better than the filth i have at the moment (Samsung Jet).

Anyone with these phones, could you possible list me the pro/cons?
i'll trust reviews from you guys a lot more than phone sites out there.
cheers, merry christmas

Galaxy S has one of the best hardware, but it's a bit slow. If you want something as powerful as GS, I would go for the HTC Desire HD. Desire Z can be nice if you want a keyboard.

cheers for the reply, i thought the galaxy s was a bit slow when i had a play in the car phone warehouse as well, didn't seem much quicker then my jet, considering its two years newer.

I'm not fussed for a keyboard really, had a touch screen for 2 years now, so I'm pretty quick.
Ive seen quite a few videos on the desire HD, but ive never seen one in person.

Whats the android market place like? many good free aps? good paid apps?

thanks again for the reply, other replied would be nice as well, i'd like to get a variety or answers before I make my decision.

The HD is a nice phone, and runs really smooth. But if you text a lot, I'd recommend the Z, just because of the keyboard. It's just way nicer to type on then on the on screen keyboard.

The android market works really smooth. You've got a lot of free apps (66% free) and all of them work great. On the HTC are already a couple of news and weather apps. You can download angry birds for free, as well as most of the Ping apps (if you want to ping) Most of the games you can download are all lite versions, but will keep you entertained as well.

If you've got any other questions PM me

I have a europa and it is a nice phone even with all the custom home page it runs very smoothly, only problem i have with it is the keyboard is a litlle weird to get used to but you do get used to it. Also the ability to root and upgrade to froyo is a bonus. It runs very well with froyo

I'd say Motorola Droid X or HTC Desire Z.
The Droid has a nice look to it, but the Desire Z has the keyboard.
I've tried both of them, they're really smooth. At least smoother than my HTC Hero ):
The HTC Senes is also really nice. If it were me, I'd usually go with anything HTC.

You can try and return it, or just sell it and get another phone.

but if im on contract i don't thin k i can get a refund...

I wonder if it really offers Flash. Just because it has Froyo does not mean it can do Flash, as the instruction set of the processor is a limiting factor. Most processors in the range of the 5500 one still have the old ARMv6, which lacks some of the vector manipulation capabilities which are required for pretty much everything interesting, including Google Earth, Flash, 3D buildings in Google Maps 5, Firefox Mobile and other stuff.

Probably not, and your phone is probably simlocked as well.
You can end your contract though ( I don't know about your contract, but the one I'm getting has a 3 month free-to-end period, but I paid for the phone already)
