Ive also heard the flashcarts drain more power than a normal game cart. But yes all batteries lose charge over time, there's nothing you can do about that.

Best way to keep them working as long as possible that I know of is not to over charge, such as leaving recharge able items on the charger all the time, unplug them once there fully charged.

Use level 1 brightness for optimal battery usage.
The best way to know if you have got a defective battery is to open the battery case and check whether the battery is slightly swollen or not.
If it is swollen get the battery changed immediately.

: O

I didn't know that at all!

if memory serves me correctly, it drops BY 25%
The "by" is implied in the way he said "drops [by] about 25%", not "drops to about 25%".

Either way, it says about 30% (it says it drops to about 70% of original capacity).

Hmm, im pretty sure its after 500 FULL charges.
So say you have 50% battery life and you charge it to 100%, that would mean you only used up HALF a charge.
Ive had my DS lite for over 2 1/2 years and played it most of the time, probably charged it more than 500 times but
i haven't noticed any decrease in the life. Maybe since i charge when the battery is around 40%-60%. Anyways
thats my main point.

Back ontopic, have you tried using another battery? Just to see. Maybe you've bought some
sort of defective unit? Anything is possible in this world we live in xP.
