Apparently "Geno" is a reputable source? What he says sounds pretty awesome.
  • Wireless HDMI
  • Haptic controller feedback
  • Phone notification streaming
  • Easy development (running PS4/XB1 games in homebrew?)
  • Focus on social features
  • Portable? (description by developers: "visually and functionally looks as if “Samsung and the Nintendo 2DS” had a baby)
  1. It has a wireless HDMI dongle that attaches flush to the back of the device. A user can pull it out and insert it into any display with a normal sized HDMI output and the devices uses an evolved version of the Wii U’s streaming tech to display in HD to the TV screen.
  2. Allegedly the analog controls for movement has small motors in them for full haptic feedback. Meaning if you control a character and hit a wall, the sticks move away from the direction of that wall to simulate running head first into it. This can also be used for jerking when firing a gun, taking damage, moving over rough terrain, ect.
  3. It can literally Bluetooth synch with everything, especially smart phone and tablets to the point where one feature is that it can answer phone calls and display text messages from your phone onto the screens itself so you don’t have to stop and answer your smart device.
  4. The closest in terms of “power” it gets to is the Xbox One, but an app idea is Wii U x50 and Playstation Vita x100. The key is that all the tech is exactly the same hardware layout as the PS4 and Xbox One which then combine it with the OS’s strong emulation functions and compiler means that any game that can run of a Playstation 4 or Xbox One can easily run on the NX with near-zero modification to the original source code, especially if it runs in Android OS or Unreal Engine 4. This is allegedly why Nintendo has given out the dev kits so late, as one 3rd Party dev put it “It’s the easiest device we’ve ever developed for. You just take your code, compile it and it works.”
  5. Look to Pokemon GO to get the idea of the type of social features that will be in NX that will take multiplayer, AR and the StreetPass concept to a whole new level.
  6. The real strengths of the device is its usability and ease of use. Developers have described to me more than once that it visually and functionally looks as if “Samsung and the Nintendo 2DS” had a baby, in that it looks friendly but unlike what most people visualize a Nintendo device to typically look. The operating system, named NintendOS alone is very powerful and has so many modern features of mobile operating systems today that Nintendo is trying to be very careful in showing it off for fear that it would be mistaken as running Android. It also has a very strong networking functions as it ties into multiple devices and services allowing a very competent and pervasive eco-system designed to constantly involve the consumer’s lives.

I'll look into it later today, if it looks believable I'll add it to the OP

I guess we are getting two separate piece for sure. Please do not screw up this time.

Though considering both xbox one and ps4 has special api emulating would be hard. Amd's best laptop apu should do as good as xbox one, maybe faster.

So I read that article and it looks absolutely fantastic, as a matter of fact I HOPE that that's what Nintendo pushes out when the time comes. I only have one major issue with it; it seems to portray this as a handheld (Samsung/2DS had a baby, wireless HDMI dongle that slots flush with the back, phone notifications, interface feels like Android and is focused on social features), but then it also says that it's 50 times as powerful as the Wii U. I have a really hard time believing that both could be true, because I know the Wii U was underpowered, but multiplying its power by 50 would take something the size of the PS4, not something the size of my S4.

So I'll meet you in the middle and call myself a cautious optimist. I'll add these last few things to the OP later tonight

If I get the article correctly, the nx might be carrying a mobile apu equavlent to intel's 45w quad core (or 28w, though I doubt amd have that covered). Considering the tablet's size and thickness it is certainly not impossible but the battery life won't go insanely high like macbooks. And mobile cartridge's (nand and gpu) cooling won't be a problem considering water cooling is a must and 4*pcie is beyond good for mobile cofiguration. And running arm or android app won't be too hard, and zen can easily overkill juguar. Though dx12 and ps4's apu would prove hard to port (unless you ignore optimization). Nintendo is pulling up something really big if this is true. The only question is if intel (I highly doubt this, though not impossible considering iris pro can hold up against gtx 750, not m)/ amd (zen apus are next year) is ready.

To say truth that made me worry.

Samsung is known for cutting costs on important things and getting bad hardware because of that and bad practices lying about his phones true performance (Galaxy S3 eMMC fry itself and also fry your micro sd card, Galaxy S4 limit hardware speed while running normally to conserve battery and temperature but works 100% while running benchmarks). Also has some gimmicky features that where short lived and unnecessary, just a bunch of party tricks (air view, curved screen). The phones feel flimsy like made of cheap materials unlike other phones like Motorola's or Xperia's (even the cheap ones feel robust).
On the other hand the 2DS is the cheapest version of the 3DS family without the characteristic 3D (come on, is like a HD TV without HDMI), a mono speaker, a horrible design and made of cheap plastic. The only up side is that you don't need to worry about cracked hinges...... because doesn't have any.

I dunno, that article sounds like a lot of bullshit to me. I dont understand how it could really be 50x more powerful than the wii u. And that "For Iwata" thing is also bullshit. How many times do people leak stuff with a "verifiable source" and have it turn out to be totally false?

Haha those are some very good points. My guess is the 2DS part comes in as meaning it's a unhinged tablet-style piece of hardware but with a smaller screen than the Wii U Game Pad to make it more portable (though IMO I'd actually want a hinge to protect the screen). The Samsung part is probably for the user interface, since they're known for large colorful buttons and screens. This is 100% speculation, of course.

Well, colorful buttons and all that is the standard Android material design interface. But you may be right, since for some reason Samsung automatically means Android.
It'll be ok if the controller is like a Vita, that form and shape is perfect, could be a little bit bigger, but just an inch no more. The clampshell design doesn't go well with sticks and in this day and age screens are naturally stronger to worry about it (I use my phone unprotected and doesn't have a single scratch).
Although I really doubt the NX is a handheld or even an hybrid. 3DS is doing fine and another handheld would only dig a tomb for it.

Probably the gpu. Power has better floating point than x86 and arm. The spec is kind of too good to be true.

A gaming laptop can still put ps4 to shame, even in size. Not to mention amd's desktop zen apu can rival ps4, and laptop rival xbone in power. At this point it might be more of a wii u replacement. And 3ds could really use some new hardware.

So the "newer and totally true" rumor about the NX is just a 4chan post back from 2015??
Everyone knows this is too good to be Nintendo but still believe it because they are so desperate to make Nintendo look good and have a real competition against Sony and Microsoft to care if things are even possible or not.

Yeah, to be honest, that about sums it up. People want Nintendo to have equal or better than Xbox and PS systems, so third parties will develop their games for Nintendo's system. And to most people, Nintendo has the best exclusives (Mario, Zelda, Smash, Pokemon, Splatoon, etc...) so it'd be the best console to buy.

This is baseless because all your base are belong to us. ;)
---------------
I bet Nintendo are going to keep on going ape-shit at us for uploading videos of their gameplay, which is so very wrong and they will definitely win in the High Court against you!
However, it would be a nice idea to see what the Nintendo NX would look like and play like, I hope it isn't an 'innovation' and is more powerful than what the PS5 and Xbox 1366x768 will be able to - Nintendo made the mistake of launching too early with the Wii U and having few titles to offer at launch.

There are far too many "rumours on the Internets": 4chan simply is another Internet, from the rest of them, because it is such cancer.

I do hope Nintendo could realise they are directly competing with the likes of apple. There is zero tolerance of failure at this state if Nintendo was to live and move forward (that is not bankrupting or purchased by Microsoft or Apple)
Anyway I highly disagree to have EA corrupt the platform. I may have to take ea down at some point.

Apple has nothing to do with this. Lol

Tbf, if there were ps5 and xbox 720 rumors to be 100x powerful, people would believe it.

The newest rumor compares the NX as "similar to the Xbox One". Now the Xbox One isn't a bad system, but if that ends up to be true, they'd be releasing a system behind the the PS4 specs wise, and its likely to be priced above the PS4 on release date. If Nintendo is serious, they need to push the system off as being state of the art. Its great if they're making it easier to develop for, but the current home console market is super competitive, and if they want to remain relevant, they're going to need to bring in more than Nintendo fans. And I'm not trying to sound like a troll, its just my opinion, but they need to get rid of the "kiddy games" image they've created. Their games aren't necessarily kiddy, but they're whimsical and come across as kiddy to a lot of people. Image is everything, and perception is reality when your system isn't selling as much as the competitions. Its truly a disaster when 12 year old kids are labeling Nintendo as 'kiddy', and would rather play games designed for adults. In some ways the complete opposite is happening and its adults playing and enjoying the 'kiddy' games.
