So after viewing this thread, I decided I would try this on my own flashlights to see the results.

All the various parts after being broiled/grilled (I'm not joking). I was hoping for more of an orange colour but meh.

Re-assembled. Turned out more of a chocolate brown.

Tried it out on another flashlight I had. Middle section turned a nice copperish/orange but the tailcap and head only managed to turn a dark brown/black.
