I have two computers. one has slightly better specs. both are running windows 10. will a disk image backup of the worse computer work on the better one? my concern is incompatible drivers. thanks!

Drivers are not really an issue these days because Windows will automatically install drivers from its store as soon as it detects a hardware change. Anything it misses, you can grab from manufacturer websites.
You might encounter licensing issues, but since both are already on Windows 10, I don’t know if it’s actually a problem (assuming both are already licenced). If you use bitlocker, that can also cause a problem, but again that is easily fixed by disabling it before running a backup.
Best practice is usually to clean install then reinstall any apps you need, and only copying over your user files (C:\Users\Name\) over. Nanite can install most common apps very easily for you.
