Okay, I am very frustrated because I've been stuck on this problem for the past 3 days. I've used this tutorial (https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-use-layeredfs-for-backup-loading-what-games-work-dont.507510/) to try loading backups, but to no avail. I decrypt the xci, then I take main.npdm and patch it here (http://carlus.altervista.org/nx/title_id_patcher.html) using the title id of the game I want to play. I boot into romfs, but when I boot the game, I get an error that says "The software was closed because an error occured." If I boot anything after that, the whole switch crashes. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Like I said, I didn't want to make a thread but I'm extraordinarily frustrated. So far I've tried Skyrim, Mario + Rabbids, Owlboy, and Cave Story +. I was also planning on trying Hyrule Warriors, but I have yet to find it.

I don't know if it applies to you, but I was having a similar issue earlier and I figured out having the donor game downloaded to the SD instead of the internal memory fixed my issue.

Try this tutorial:

Worked like a charm.

Thank God finally. It just worked with cave story +. I accidentally deleted my Skyrim xci but I found a working HW download while getting it again. In another 5 hours, I'll finally play Skyrim. Thanks!
