When I use the cIOS installer from psycon's 1st post (v6), I get an error:
"Failed to allocate temp buffer for encrypted content, size was 2047092088"
or something like that.

Then, I tried installing the cIOS from djtaz's signature (v5). Success!
One problem: IOS249 doesn't appear under advanced installation for DVDX.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???
hate2.gif

Which IOS did you install ? Theres 2 on my zip ....

select the file CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042.wad then press + on the wii remote.

If you used the one above then you will get the ios249 in DVDx when you install. if you installed IOS5 from the zip it wont work - in the HOWTO the above is step 2 - and IOS5 is in the option section for Wii Backup Dumper.

Hope that points you in the right direction

I installed cios using homebrew channel, I don´t know if it installed correctly, i left it downloading something 1/15 and when I came back it was already on homebrew channel menu, then I tryed to install dvdx and I don´t see any 249, only 4, 5, 11, 13, 14, 30, 32, 33, 34, etc. only 2 digids not 3..

Try Uninstalling the IOS again and reinstall it (minus button uninstalls)

Try to follow the steps in order in my How To (in my sig) - try to watch whats happening as well as it doesnt take too long.
Stage 2 is what you need to concentrate on for this.

OK so I got it to work partially.
Deca Sports loaded with no issues
Mario Super Sluggers loaded but crashes when I select teams (chart says it should work)
and Trauma Center new blood doesnt work
I think it says I need to patch these games with wiifrii. Do I patch the ISOs first, then with the extract partition, or the other way around?

Wiifri first , then patch.

Someone in this thread was talking about v0.2 of the Backup Launcher. Did I miss something? There's no second version yet, right?

Im trying to keep on top of all the new releases and update my zip file as i go. I havent seen any updates to v.0.2 anywhere , but there is an update from waninkoko's loader to wiigators loader that might lead to come confusion.

Most are still using Wiigators V0.1 loader and a channel loader of their choice. If there is an update it will be reflected in my Howto or zip file on my sig.

Im also thinking of doing up a general fault list onto my How to ask so many people are all asking the same questions over and over (as expected i suppose) but no one seems to want to read up on it - they all want a quick answer now.

Could have sworn when i asked in this thread http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=107...p;#entry1437891

then on the next page someone answered http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=107056&st=210

Weird so now you are saying that when you want titles running you do need conversion tools?

Im saying the same thing : You need to patch the games for them to work

What he asked was Do I patch the ISOs first, then with the extract partition, or the other way around? so i told him to wiifrii first then patch.

If you have a PAL iso and a PAL machine you dont need wiifri, if you have an NTSC game and an NTSC wii, you dont need WiiFri ... ill go a step further .. if you have a PAL Game and an NTSC wii , you dont have to wiifrii if you have wiigators loader , if you have Waninkoko's loader you will need to.

Now , as you might imagine i dont have an NTSC wii since i live in Ireland - i dont download or rip NTSC games as all i want are here. So how do i know all of the above ? I HAVE READ THE FORUMS AND LEARNT IT.

Dont be lazy - read the threads. we are here to help , not to do it for you.

Well in that other topic it was easy to write it as:

PAL Wii
Source Usa/Jap ->Wiifri->Backup-creator
Source PAL ->Backup-creator

NTSC Wii
Source PAL-> Wiifri -> Backup-creator
Source NTSC->Backup-creator

When you explain things be precise, that is the only way to do it ....

Sorry. I read a lot about the whole process in this and other forums. But it was in this thread that someone asked sth like "The launcher channel says 0.1... So is it 0.2?". As I could not find anything about 0.2, I had to ask.

I agree that all the other information can be collected by browsing through topics/google easily in quite a short time. I didn't know about Wiifrii until today, but reading the first Google entry is not THAT hard...

Trauma Center New Blood NTSC do work on a PAL machine with backup launcher from wiigator...
even without wiifrii...

Thanks
I cant figure out why some games work, some don't and some partially even though the compatibility wiki says they should work.

Williams HOF Pinball (NTSC)

Hardware:
NTSC (US) Wii 3.3U
Stock A/V Cables
NTSC only TV

How backed up:
Plextor 716A
Imation DVD+R 8x
Imgburn 2.4.2. (Write speed set at MAX, booktype DVD-ROM, stats: avg write 7.6x, max write 9.2x)

Performance:
WHOFP: Video slow, but we know that happens. Most tables play without difficulty. However, the GORGAR table hangs the system when loading in any mode (free play, tournament, or challenge). If you can live without GORGAR or tourney/challenge modes, this is green. Technically, it's playable, but not fully functional, thus it should get a ORANGE compatibility rating.

Also tested Mario and Sonic Olympics. Concur. Vid stutters, but game playable

This is not a the compatibility thread. also since we have a wiki (see compatibility list on first post), it is more useful to add it straight to the list (you will have to create a login for the wiki to be able to edit)

Lol - its not my job to keep you informed - all the information is there so go look for it and stop EXPECTING others to do all of the work for you.

I have a PAL system and i get PAL ISO's so for me 'The Iso doesnt require any patching like brickblocker or other conversion tools ?' is correct - it doesnt require any other things for me.

I have also mentioned in many posts - the more info you give us , the more we know about your machine , and also we are working blind so we need all the information you can give us.
You didnt supply your wii version , you didnt supply the disc types , you didnt tell us which games you were trying , you didnt ask anything but the above.

I answered the question you asked with the information you supplied , and to be quite perfectly honest im now sorry i did. Your an ungrateful lazy {please insert suitable swear word of your own choice }

And finally, thanks harryk - Google's first answer does supply the information required - but some people want everything on a silver spoon.

It took me 2 days to finally get a DVD+RW set to DVD-ROM but i finally got it done, after flashing my NEC drive (which didn't work..) and my SONY drive which actually works..

Now i got Paper Mario burned to a DVD+RW with bookmark DVD-ROM but it stays black.. (failed probably)
so i whipped of paper mario and burned Mario Kart, i got the screen with the notice to put that wiimote on your hand.. but after that it stays black.. could i be due to the TDK DVD+RW ?

Should i try another brand? (Got philips also..)

Cause it boots and identifies but then it crashes.. that sucks!

i think you have to burn it on a dvd-R, i try to burn on dvd-rw and it doesnt work or random

And yes perhaps try another brand ,Verbatim seems to be a better choice..

lol everyone insistes on using DVD ReWritables and they are the least reliable of all the discs.

Seriously guys - go and try it with a -r or a +r with booktype change and even if you wast eone disc its hours of frustration saved - trust me i did it when i first tested all this on day one and it drove me mental until i tried a normal dvd writable - just give a normal writable a go before you post about your re-writable problems.

From the compatibility list on my sig :
Super Paper Mario PARTIAL Game crashes after Count Bleck had the meeting with his henchman. Until then, it's playable. PARTIAL No difference
