guys you can burn up to the maximum speed supported by your DVD medium. I've burnt all my games at 16x and they all work.

Motoko, thats not true for everyone. The general consensus is that you can burn fine at 2x and 4x on 99% of burners , anything over that is specific to the discs , the burner and the software used to burn.
Just because it can work at that speed doesnt mean it will work for everyone.

Its best to check at a slower speed and confirm it all to be working first and then up the speed once its working - otherwide you wont ever know whats wrong.

So many have asked this i have put it into the questions and answers - its simple - DONT USE DVD-RW OR DVD+RW. It has worked for some , but they are the exceptions to the rules

Maybe we should start a list of working RW media. People should stop posting about the RWs that DON'T WORK and start posting the ones that DO... I don't see any reason for people NOT to try writing to an RW disc - I mean, it doesn't cost anything does it?! I prefer to test all my games on an RW before committing to an R just in case the game doesn't work or I just don't like it.
I've had 100% success with TDK branded DVD+RW 1-4x Discs written at the medias max of 4x - this is the output from "dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/dvd":

Are there any plans for revisions or is this the one we're stuck with unless someone makes a new one?

Don't get me wrong, we have a GUI with this one and a wealth of options, I'm just wondering if the project has been left behind after the release?

I'm not saying "WE NEED COMPABILITY UPDATES", so please don't get that idea or offended. Minor aesthetic updates for instance. D:

Wanikoko's original one was only released on sept 18th i believe and this one was released 27th of September which is less than 2 weeks ago.

I have a feeling that the coders dont care much for the astetic side of things as long as they can get it working and i would have a feeling they are working more on the usability side of things that the fluffy bunny icons.

It takes Nintendo months to come out with an updated firmware , so id wait a little more than 2 weeks before asking coders who do this in their free time about their progress, though since its open source now you'd never know.

Well, ive tried with the included WiiBackupPatcher, i tried with extractpartition but got the cannot find root-key error, i found the backup-creator and burnt the partition.iso with a DVD-ROM profile at 2x

and i still get DVD identify error, the backed up game is No More Heroes, any tips or any at all?

This is usually an error with the Disc itself - try a different type of disc and see if it works dvd-r seem to be the most reliable for the wii for some reason.

Well i just tried with Sony DVD-R and no dice

perhaps the iso i made is corrupt? i think i dumped it from a rental...

anything else i should try?

Chances are you forgot to install dvdx. You have to install it in order for the dvds to be read. dvdx--> advance install ---> iso 249. Even if you install cios6 you still have to install dvdx.

Well my point is if all other games are working for him then its not the dvdx it could be the ISO, let me know if all the games are working beside this. Because i had a problem with spiderman3 NTSC it would tell me DVD identity error and all of my other games were working fine so let me know

the price is right NTSC works but freezes up occasionally loading certain sub games long loading times as usual but aside from that if you can deal with the crashes it does play (got in a round of PLINKO before it crashed loading the next game)

If you can watch a DVD on your Wii then the problem is with DVDx - if the installer is installed correctly then you cant watch a DVD on your Wii any longer .
The loader uses the new Cios which disabled DVD watching , but enables playing DVD based backup games.

Its a flaw for now that may be resolved in the future , but the point is if you can watch a DVD , you did it wrong.

thre is really nothing to upgrade in the patchers, all they do is decrypt the disc.

It'll be based on the backup launcher. If wanikoko didn't get too pissed off about his loader getting released here when he didn't want it to we may see that version. Or if wiigator decided to continue working on his version maybe well se that in the future. (TRY NOT TO LEAK IT FOLKS. SO WE CAN GET A GOOD WORKING VERSION WHEN ITS READY!)

If you can watch a DVD on your Wii then the problem is with DVDx - if the installer is installed correctly then you cant watch a DVD on your Wii any longer .

Um, From what I've read, You can install DVDX correctly, and still play backups + DVD's Linkinworm, and a couple other Tempers said so.

Glad to help with suggestions , but you would have figured it out yourself eventually - frustration does that.

About the DVDx - i never had a problem with mine , but i installed it exactly as i have in my HowTo on about 5 different Wii's and never had an issue. I have read that people who had it installed before had problems and i thought i had read somewhere that you could no longer watch DVD's with the new Cios. I may be wrong about that , but its just going on what i have read.
