I bought mine from a second-hand video game store.
This was back on March of 2018. If I remember correctly there is only one model I thought.
If not then mine is the old model.
Do you also have a jig or some other method of shorting the two pins on the right side of the switch, while person those two buttons? That is the only way to get into RCM mode.

I read the official guide and it never mentioned anything about the jig (Yes I do have one).
When doing so, it never went into RCM. I just watched a video of recent and I can still do it even on 6.0.1

No one promised autoboot on 4.0 and lower. Deja vu is a warmboot exploit that likely loads from browser, and I'm fairly certain jamais vu is a similar story.

Wait, there was a method. Ppl said because of it stay as lower as possible (<3.x if I remember right and yes, there mistake in post that I made here), because on higher fw you cant install it or so I hear before.
Don't know, maybe situation changed right now? And Deja vu was patched on 5.x fw, no?

No, Deja Vu was the same exploit people were referring to on firmwares 4.1 and below. Firmwares 3.0 and below would likely see the exploit being released earlier than those on 3.0.1-4.1, but the manner of the exploit has always involved loading a webpage. And Deja Vu hasn't been completely patched out on firmware 5.X otherwise they would have no reason to hold back on releasing it.

ì think in hekate you can use exfat sd card even if you dont have the exfat update for horizon os but you can not use it under horizon os or other homebrew
but it should be enough to backup nand or restore

I can confirm this. The guide I used on 3.0.2 to update to 5.1+ hah me create a nand backup on exfat, and switch over to fat32 for the next stages, then copy that sd card over to the exfat one after completion of update through choidujour. Everything was really easy.

According to hexkyz the exploit was not properly patched in 6.0.X either and they had a workaround. The only reason deja vu is getting a release is because another person unknowingly reported it to Nintendo without realising he discovered the thing other devs refer to as deja vu. So chances are it will support 6.0, too

Yes because they can be loaded via different bootloaders and use different folders for their CFW/patches

Great, thanks for letting me know. I have another question. Does atmosphere also support sysmodules like "sys-ftpd.kip" as ReiNX? Sys-FTPis very important for me.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though

    I appreciate the insight!
