For now you can only use homebrews on your console, but no CFW.
ScriresM and others are working hard to bring CFW soon!

You have to wait or buy the SX Pro from team xecuter, which will be launched this month.
With SX Pro you will be able to run backup games.
Next month...

Thank you. I guess all the hype is over SX Pro then. I'm likely to wait until Atmosphere, just because my money is being put to better uses the next few pay checks. Momocon ftw,

What's with the sigh? If it's not out it's not out, if it is it is, I'm just looking for information without reading tons of topics and mixed information.

Is it only me who loves finding out new info and digging through threads for new news these days? Part of the fun for me!

Well it's just that there are so many people posting things they don't understand and being incredibly unclear, and I'm just looking for the direct answer.

My guess is that Atmosphere will release as the same time as SX Pro.

Better to wait for the more sophisticated solution in form of an open-source CFW...
The modchip is coming out on the 15th. The supposedly planned release date for Atmosphere is also on June 15th. TX probably chose that date on purpose to compete with ReSwitched. So yeah, they are going to be released on the same day if not within very close proximity of one another.

Why do they need to compete at all? One is for piracy the other for homebrew.

Because Atmosphere and ScriesM, while not for piracy, are not also trying to block it in any way with their CFW. Which means lost revenue for Xecuter. Piracy won't be available at Atmosphere release, so Xecuter is trying to get some profit for their work before that is made possible in the open-source community.

I'd argue one is for noobs while the other is for those who prefer more flexibility. Team Xecuter simplified the entire process as much as they possibly could for the number one reason people hack their consoles. They even plan to implement homebrew in the future. However, this comes at the cost of not knowing what exactly you're running, utilizing a similar but more user-friendly setup than those who would Atmosphere would be utilizing, as well as paying actual money. The alternative gives all the control to the end-user to do whatever anyone wants. Whether that be homebrew, save back-ups, or even piracy, the options are limitless. You just have to know what you are doing as one false move could end up bricking your console.

When you put it like that, TX seems like the best option for the average user like myself.

But if you backup your NAND then the Switch is unbrickable, right?

If you don't mind paying the money, sure. No one is forcing you to use one over the other. Just know that there's a balance between freedom/flexibility and utility. While TX may have the upper-hand in utility with backup launching, eventually Atmosphere will catch up. I can also assure you that there are many people who will try to help you setup Atmosphere to do that when the time comes. But if you don't wanna wait, you can buy the modchip.

Backing up the NAND just means you better have a way to restore it. The Switch is not "unbrickable" hence why the need for a NAND backup. There are ways to restore it currently, but they are not publicly available. They may be released when there are better tools to dump the NAND as the ones we have now are not perfect.

I dont mind waiting, i just want the safest way to use homebrews and such.

One thing that is bothering me, can i backup the nand on 3.0.2 when atmosphere launches? i read somewhere around here that you need to update to use SDHC cards with bigger storages.

You don't need Atmosphere to backup your NAND. You can already do that, and you can backup your NAND in pieces without needing bigger SD cards.

Im a bit confused on the exfat thing.
Im currently 4.1 without exfat update, so should I bute the bullet and update to latest firmware together with exfat support or is that not needed ?

As far as I can recall, it was said that Atmosphere will include exfat support right?
Or do I need exfat on sysnand for that to work?
Confusing :S. I hope someone can shed some light on this
