In what will surely challenge their own Asteroids for the title of Most Inane Choice for a Videogame Film Adaptation, the LA Times now reports that Atari is currently "in active discussions" with film studios to convince them acquiring Missile Command for a film adaptation is a good idea, too.

Evidently the property is likely to end up at Fox, and the film would almost certainly be shot in 3D. Answering the bigger question of how the hell you would make a movie out of a game entirely about shooting missiles at bigger incoming missiles, however, has not yet been addressed.

Then again, if a studio can take Asteroids and turn it into (according to the film's producer) "two lead characters -- two brothers -- who have to go through a seminal experience to figure out their relationship, against this huge backdrop," then we suppose anything's possible in this crazy awesome world we live in.

Couldn't think of anything else to describe this.

Can't wait until:

Pong: The Movie

The movie would go on forever, getting slightly more difficult with each passing scene?

I can imagine Pitfall the Movie.

A man, searching epically for things no one has seen before, exploring, exploring, and doing a weird dance every time something touches him. The greatest movie of 20XX, coming soon...

EPIC.

@Guild: Pic needs fixing.

What possible plot could they think of for this? I'm waiting for SkiFree: The Movie, thank you. A skier must flee for his life when a wild, unstoppable yeti is let lose on the skiing track he uses every day.

the true sequel to the mario movie haha
If it's the sequel to the movie, then it is bound to suck. Besides, unless they make it animated, Yoshi would probably look like a lizard on some BIG steroids.

I would still play to watch it though.

ya, i still cant believe i actually sat through that crap...

but missle command the movie, if it really takes off, i wonder how many whinners will be whinning about how the movie isnt faithful to the game in that it doesnt last 2 hours with faster and more missles, but instead there's a plot, a beginning, a middle and an ending.
