Yes I always use a screen protector now (Mainly on the touch screen) because I started to ruin the one on my ds lite after playing a game that you mainly touched one spot on the screen. I now have a small dot there. Since then I have used the protectors on my lite, my dsi, my xl, and now 3ds. The last ones I got were from "Icon" and I put them on my 3DS. Very good package, easy install with cloth & applicator. 2 sets in one package for $9.99 from Amazon.

How is the quality of the "Icon" screen protectors, particularly on the touch screen?

I don't use screen protectors. If you don't abuse the system, the scratches that occur from wear and tear don't often affect the performance of the touch screen and the scratches on the top screen will only appear in direct, harsh light; I.E. Sunlight, Florescent light. Granted, the "explorer's kit bundle" included the screen protectors but I just don't want to bother putting the things on. P.S. the earphones in the explorer's kit bundle suck, max volume on the earphones is like min volume on the system!

Btw, I suggest you guys install the top screen protector. When you close it I feel the top screen is very near the bottom one. It left a trace once, a left honrizontal line. It was washable, thank god

I don't like screen protectors or any other accessories.

Back in the GBA SP days, I would love to customize my handheld with cases and accessories. Then I realized the best way to have it is the way it comes.

offtopic but does anyone use a crystal case on their 3DS, I'm thinking of getting the CTA brand.

My original DS is quite scratched up on the touch screen, but that's mostly because Wario Ware Touched was one of the first games I got for the DS.

I was going to use a screen protector for the touch screen on my 3DS since the accessory pack that came with it included one, but it wasn't quite the right size so it looked really bad and I took it back off straight away.
I'll just be careful about how I treat the touch screen instead.

I'm a *HORI* screen protector person. I'm waiting on my local Fry's to get them in.

For those of you who don't want to put protectors on the 3D screen, RECONSIDER!

Since the top screen is larger and the bottom screen is raised up a few mm, I'm starting to see smear marks caused by the bottom screen. This can only get worse.

I never use the regular screen protectors that make air bubbles underneath.

I look for some kinda case that can protect the screen and/or unit that just slides in/on and sits over It.

If I can't find a case like that for a certain thing I just don't use anything and try my best not to ruin It.

My original ds went 4 years without scratches and one day I just noticed it had a ton of scratches that couldn't be felt, only seen. My 3ds seems to collect scuffs from the bottom screen which makes me paranoid. I will be using screen protectors once I can get one. Until then I keep a piece of foam that came with it between the screens when its closed for safety.

You're from the future? What's it like in 2015?

I edited my post. I just got off work and im dead tired. Deal with it I guess.

I'm considering buying dcmugen's 3ds screen protectors off of Ebay. I've had pretty good results with their clear celphone and dsi XL protectors before. Anyone try using a matte screen protector on the top screen? I understand that the top is highly reflective and though I won't be playing the 3DS in direct sunlight, I wanted to know if the matte screen protector blurs the 3D effect.

i ALWAYS put a screen protector on anything touch. especially the 3D screen. have you had a dust particle on it yet? because i got a little fluffy thing from my carpet on it and i couldnt help but concentrate on it and while i do i cant focus my eyes to the 3Dness of the 3DS. Now i can only imagine if i got a scratch on the top screen how much it would irritate me to no end. I am a pro at putting on protection screens so i never have problems with dust/hairs/etc.

Meh...every time i use them, no matter HOW careful i was. I either get a bubble, or an annoying spec of dirt or something.

Never had any serious issues with my past DS's (Except a hinge crack), so i doubt im gonna start with the 3DS

Ahhhhh yeah... Screen protectors usually piss me off because I can't prevent the dust, fuzz, etc. from getting between it and the screen! I don't know how things can be manufactured and not have this problem with the screens! Also I have had a few times when I tried a screen protector only to get so much blur on the screen that I removed it and got pissed off at the money I had lost when I bought them. The only exception is when I bought a PSP screen protector that actually hides a scratch on the screen (from the previous owner). So I just take it easy on my touchscreen hardware and don't act like a psycho kid!

Nope. The touch screens and all are designed for normal use. Also, I'm able to accept the fact that some scratches appear after like 2-3 years of usage. No biggie.

Not for anything that doesn't use capacitive touch. Cause I have a ds lite with a screen protector and I have some difficulties using the edges of the screen.
