Gaming Are flashcarts illegal?

Man, this whole topic has gone out of proportion. Seriously, it's naive and insulting to anyone of any intelligence. Just to be clear, a lot of things are illegal, I repeat, A LOT Of THINGS ARE ILLEGAL. A lot of people violate rules/laws that are so inane some people who work to uphold the law don't even know them. The legality (or otherwise) of your flashcards isn't even the topic anymore anyway, it's just become trolling. In fact, , the whole legal/illegal issue is unworthy of discussion because in most cases, it's a friggin gray area.

and pirating were legal thread.

You know something is up when countries deem them legal, and others don't. You know something is wrong with the world when some countries, game retailers are allowed to stock them in their store, while others don't accept past customs.

I think the OP worded the thing wrong. He should have said "are they illegal in your country" or something like that.

You make your flashcart legal/illegal. Executing homebrew on your flashcart is perfectly legal. Whereas putting ROMs(Nintendo DS Game backups) on your flashcart makes it illegal.

basically it comes down to that you can make backups of games you own, its just that you cant put it on other cartridges which includes flashcarts.
however it's hard to say if this makes a flashcart illegal, as it can also be used for other things except for games

Here in Canada, our copyright makes backing up a CD illegal. It's not enforced, so we have a grey area so large it makes the Rockies look like mounds of dirt.

Generally, flashcarts themselves aren't illegal with the exception of a few countries outlawing them. The reason they're looked down upon is because they are prevalently used for pirating games, which in itself is deemed illegal.

Ok let me ask you this. Don't think it would be stupid if they lied to me? Lets say they were downloading, ok? Hypothetically.

Now lets say I'm coming over. Or we're going to play some games. They would have to delete the stuff off of their flashcard, and off of their computer just for me not to see it. They're not tech savvy, so they can't exactly hide it in some obscure place.

I would... and I'd have two micro SD's to and swap them to hide it! There's be no deleting then...
