Are FC Twins any good?

I was looking to buy a snes, but I came accross something called an FC Twin which is cheaper and plays both nes and snes games. Has anyone used one of these?

You're better off getting a real NES and SNES... trust me, as a collector I can say the FC Twins and Yobos etc. are all low quality pieces of shit.

Save up a bit more cash and get the real Hardware! The controllers on the Famiclones suck, and they are prone to shitting out on you quickly. I promise you that you'll regret buying one...


Sure, you can use real SNES controllers. But if you wanna play on it with NES games you still need to use the SNES controller, which in my opinion, makes it pointless to play on "Real Hardware" via the Famiclones because you're not even playing with the right controller. =/

I can't vouch for the FC Twin, but I do have one of the first model Yobo famiclones.
It works pretty well; hell, it's more reliable than many of the aged NESes I've tried.
I even made a Famicom to NES controller adapter for it (later models used the US controller ports anyway).
The sound may be a little different, but it's not enough to say it's crap.
I'd buy an FC Twin, if I weren't already satisfied with the emulators available on the Wii. I doubt it would disappoint.

i had an fc twin until i got an actual snes and nes.

they're pretty good, but they're incompatible with some games.

there's a list on wikipedia, i know one that's incompatible is castlevania 3

There's a similar console called Retro Duo that's made by a company called Retro-Bit. Supposedly it has the best compatibility of the nes/snes clones (wikipedia)

They [clones] are all the same as far as compatibility is concerned. Just pick up an NES 2 (AKA Top loader NES) It's a legit Made-by-nintendo NES, which means it has the best compatibility (duh) and It gets rid of the problem of Contact issues by getting rid of the 10-NES Lockout Chip. (AKA Blinking Screen)

i say get a snes and nes if you want it cheap your best friend will be ebay and yard sales. i got my snes with all DKC games MK3 Lion King and TMNT turtles in time for 5 bucks with 2 controllers

you'd also have to get the fc twin specific light gun if you want to play duck hunt.
