Apple Keynote round up

Probably what I expected in regards to the iPhone 4S. Dual-core processor makes perfect sense to maintain competition, and the shots claimed to be taken by the 8MP camera look promising (though I think they've gone through a decent bit of photo editing before being released). Other than that, I'm not convinced by Apple that it'd be something worth buying. Pricing seems a bit high for a two-year contract, and knowing that we're locked in to three-year contracts in Canada, these prices will probably be bloated as well.

And in regards to that debate over the naming. The numbers stand more for a separate generation of the iPhone than anything. The 3G and 3GS were of the same generation, thus sharing a similar branding. The iPhone 4 was named so for being the fourth model, but also for the new generation of the iPhone, adding a new design and a huge screen update. The next generation being the iPhone 5 would actually make more sense to market in this way.

You guys realize you're all stupid, right?

  • iPhone (original)
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 4S
And the fact that you guys are worrying so much as something as trivial as the number.. yikes.

You know, you just basically said what I said, but less.

Wasn't talking about you because you were the only one who was right.

I couldn't tell.

I'll get the 4S. My current 4's trade in value dropped by $100 since launch. With the release of 4S it's going to decrease further. I don't want it's value to drop to $100 when the 5 is out.

I have a White Iphone 32GB Verizon. I really like their designs and whatnot, its just sad to see that they used to be on top. With these specs and whatnot they will be only on par with the Samsung Galaxy 2, until they decide to jump to Android 4.0 in 2 months.

Now about the voice thing, is that only with the 4S or will that come in the iOS 5?

All I saw today was an iPhone 4 with new processor and a new camera all called the iPhone 4S. They made a huge deal about the camera with some unnecessary hating on other competitors. I also think I heard Cook believing that others are "copying" the MacBook Air. As if it owns the ultrabook category.

Dun know about you, but they sound a little scared of competition. And they shouldn't be. In some categories their products win, hands-down.

Something in me said that this wasn't going to be as groundbreaking as people were making it out to be. That concept video on youtube had the majority of people here at my university actually believing that they were going to add those in the iDevice line.

Those fools.

The main (and likely only) reason why I'm wanting a 4S is to maintain the phone value and not wanting to pay $3 more a month for an ordinary data plan (the iPhone specific data plan is $3 less).

Speaking of which, I'm really used to typing on the iPhone. Yesterday my post on the 'Sony imposing online passes thread' was typed from my Galaxy S II and it took me AGES.

I admit. I love apple products, but NOT their prices.

I'm so stoked after this! I've been dying to get a new iPod since i'm still running a 2 GB Nano from forever ago and get a new phone... now the iPhone is coming to Sprint? Double wammy!

The only thing I'm really interested in is Infinity Blade 2.

So am I. Also the OP's info is a little misleading the game will be playable on all currently supported iOS devices but will only look that good on an iPhone 4s or presumably an iPad2.

i hope there is a plist hack for iPhone 4 users to use the Siri tech

for the Inifity Blade 2 from what the keynote said it was only going to be built for those devices never said it would work on iPhone 4 but we shall see once its released also they sent out 1.4 update today which was nice of Chair to do

They said it would only look that good on the iPhone 4s (after showing a demo), implying there will be other versions that don't look as pretty. It's coming out December 1st.

It appears that Hurricane 4S will hit Singapore on Oct 28.

Add a few months to it - 4S will generally be available somewhere around March.

My contract ends in June, so... yeah.
