I recently downloaded some game pkgs, but ran into an issue on my PS4 Pro.
I used the DNS exploit method by aziz to install hen, FTP, and update blocker. Then I went in and backed up the two files app.db and appcont.db to my pc. I found a save data folder and backed it up as well.

I had already had tomb raider installed because I had played it in the past. So I deleted that data from the xmb and installed the package from my USB stick. After install I got a dreaded save data is corrupt dialog box when I got into the game menu.

Is there anything I can do to restore save data info with the files I backed up?

Have you tried put back the save folders, via ftp, you backed up?

So, the folder I backed up was

\savedata\1a2d7a2e\db\user

I'm not sure if that was the one I should have backed up. As when I was going through guides it didn't specify or I may have missed that info.

Any idea if that's the right one? Or would the app.db and appcont.db restore saves?

No they wouldnt.

In my guide stooged now has a save back up with the two db files payload.

I would assume you need to reinstall your game, then locate the save folder for it and replace it with your backed up folders.... if you saved the right folders.

I don't think the app.db or appcont.db will help you here. this is coming from my experience with the vita. I'm not sure if they even contain saved data information. when I reencrypted a decrypted save (from mai dump tool to nonpdrm), the db files were never used. it was just reencrypting it from the data folder. if you don't do that, you get a saved data is corrupt message and the game refuses to boot. I'm not sure if that will be helpful in your case though. lol

might be able to use sq lite browser 3 to check out the contents of that .db if you're curious. that app should be able to open the app.db and possibly the appcont.db . I know it can open the app.db, the local trophy.db, and the license.db on the vita.

Sounds like I'm out of luck. Oh well, I knew I should have waited a bit for things to shake out a bit more.

I finished Persona 5 on the PS3, any chance there's a way to transfer that to the PS4?

Thanks for that info!

Like I say, for future, in my guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/aio-ps4-exploit-guide.497858/

Under utilities > payload repo: 4.55 stooged db back up + saves.

Should I backup the database after updating a game, or only after adding/removing a game?

@KiiWii seems to me your guide isn't getting any visibility in that forum, you might want to talk to cyan and get it stickied in here changing the title to something that stands out a bit more.
