Hacking Anyway to brick a DS Lite?

So I have my hands on a pretty much half broken DS Lite on it's verge to Gaming Heaven.

Here's how bad the condition is:
- L + R Button Don't Work (Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't)
- Hinge is Broken (It's been a while...)
- Sleep Mode Doesn't Work (I don't know why... Was working even though the hinge was broken)
- Above L Button has Cracks (Oh and you know the power light thingy, well on the opposite side, so the left side, that part, is cracked and you can see the inside of the DS Lite. The Ribbon Cable is fully visible >_

well, u could try searching for ds owata, its a hentai slideshow that acts as a bricker,

so u could try searching for the fake DQ IX. Hope this helps

Well, what about prolonged exposure to strong magnets? Or, a failed flashing attempt? Or... what about a Trojan.DSBrick? I don't know where to get them, so don't ask me.

Did you mangle your ds lite or something? Anyways what mrfatso and skyline said since I really have idea how else to brick a ds.

Try to flash it and do a bunch of stupid stuff they tell you not to do.

Or just take the freaking battery out and replace it ( if you care that much ) with something plasticy or papery.

Just get Flashme and un-bridge the two contacts when it's at like 30%.

yup, and apparently its a hentai slideshow as well, so i guess if u are those guys, its a win-win situation i guess

just note that it only bricks a real ds, it will just play fine on an emulator if what those who found it are typing the truth.

Aiight. Does flashing require me to open it up? I am not doing that... If I was gonna, I might as well repair the whole case then xDD. This is such a stupid question, but am just wanting to get a new DS Lite. I might, might repair it.

Falling to a 50/50 choice between repairing or breaking completely. The only thing I know I am gonna lose are my Wi-Fi settings + Friend Codes. Oh and the fact that my DS Lite is 2 years old, I don't think I want to brick it... Or Break it...

If I do repair it, and it does break, I guess that is alright...

I might repair it and order a replacement case. Gonna get a Translucent Blue one ^^. Or if not, Transparent (Clear) or some special edition gundam one...

it sounds like your big issues are with the case. the R and L buttons can usually be cleaned up with some compressed air. mine of been tuff to use, they require extra force, at times. my case is fine so that goes to show you have dust can cause problems with the micro switches.

i wouldn't brick it, i would try to get a free case and swap it! free how? post at the temp and ask for one, sell something on ebay to make the cash, sell some oranges by the overpass.

Dad won't let me use Compressed air... His answer: Use a Vacuum then reverse it so it blows air.

How can I get a free case... I am not even allowed to sell anything on Ebay... If I can't sell, I am gone.

there are two ways to brick a ds.

1. Run flashme and turn off about 1% in.
2. Use one of the brickers. You should probably be able to find them if you look hard enough. And btw the fake DQ IX rom is just Trojan.DSBrick.B or something, a Hentai slideshow, which was claimed to be a DQ IX rom. And it would not work fine in an emulator. Obviously it wont brick anything, but it wouldn't work either.

The two brickers are called Trojan.DSBrick.A and Trojan.DSBrick.B and claimed to be a r0mloader and hentai slideshow respectively. I think you may be able to get them on darkfader's site, he released the first one after he got made at pirates, which was after he was the first person to dump a ds game. Oh the irony

Yeah, all the parts you need can be bought at DX. All you really need is a new case (with buttons) and a tri-wing screwdriver. I'd say for $20-$30 you can get all you need there.

Reminds me of my own how to slow down a pc thread xD.
Anyway the only way i know to brick it is wait til your dsl led turns red
and flash it with any firmware with the charger unplugged.
Then im sure it will turn of before youre even done flashing.

you could just pull out the battery or short the wrong thingy when flashing, rather than running down battery and unplugging charger. same effect. and other methods have already been suggested.

I am at 60% chance of repairing it instead. I actually want to keep it.

Anyway know how long DX ships to Ontario, Canada (Or at least to Canada)? Gonna get a replacement case and all the necessary parts...

To Canada, DX ships in about 2-3 weeks. Well, at least to Saskatchewan anyways.

You could always hit it repeatedly with a baseball bat. That would brick it.

Sounds like all you really need is the case anyway since most of the problems can be attributed to that.
