So this morning, I ran into a horrible experience. I was installing a new cia on and as it was installing, my sd card corrupted itself...I had backed up my whole sd card, but not my emunand so I had to start all over again. I now have installed a Reinand and whatnot, I am pretty much to where I was, except for one thing.

I lost my saves, but I have been researching to see if I can get them back, they are on my old backup under the folder that had the old emunand stuff (exdata folder). I was researching up a bit and I saw that you're able to get put them to a new emunand by using savedatafiler

Is it true? If so, how are you able to do it? Moving the exdata from the old emunand to the new emunand?

Sorry for the wall of text and not writing it properly, is late and I've been at this for three hours already. x:

I don't think it will work. But if you happened to have a backup of your sysNAND BEFORE you made your emuNAND, that might help. You can restore that bacup to your emunand and pray it works. I'm not sure if it works THAT well, but at least theoretically it works for some saves.

Unfortunately I did not made a backup of my old emunand or sysnand. I had to wipe the sd card and create both a new emunand and sysnand (this time I made backup for both of those).

I just wished I could find a way of injecting the saves from my old emunand exdata to my new emunand. Just not sure if it'll work...don't know how. Thankfully it was only three games I was playing digitally, but still.

Definitely looking for advices or to know if I am screwed and have to start my games all over.

Not possible unless you backed up your saves with a save manager. Saves are encrypted with the system ID they were made on, so once you formatted and made an EmuNAND, they went poof.

Also if we were to make some sort of program that could decry-pt (Some) keys it would be pointless cause only those keys can go to your system, kinda like dumping your OTP its console specific, so dumping save data would be pointless if you don't have the original Nintendo 3ds folder.

Let me re-phrase that Game Data from the emuNAND if you used jk's save manager it would work on a new system (I think) My 2ds bricked yesterday when i tried setting up a9lh so its pointless.

So wait wait you didn't back ur system in decrypt9

The last time I had done the same thing but I reinstalled homebrew, went to gateway then backed up my Nand man (rhyming intended)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Wait aren't you supposed to back up everything through emunand? Then get the Nand.bin and put it on your computer.
I remember when I was a noob at this and I formatted my 2ds because I thought it was going to go back to its factory sysnand and boy it did not and I lost mk7 and everything else including my dignity. Lol

So...the only option I have is to just start the games from scratch, yes?

I do have the old Nintendo 3DS folder. But I will deleted since that has an old sysnand and emunand.

XD Welcome to the world of emuNAND I actually bricked my 2ds yesterday so no games to play anyway...

Oh my, that's horrible. Sorry to know that :l.

The good thing at least is that, the save games were MHX, Fire Emblem Fates (T.T), and Fantasy Life (</3). I don't mind starting the last two again. And MHX is coming here to the west so is not too much of a bother for me.

I didn't brick it from emuNAND though it was from setting up a9lh (Don't even get into that without a hardmod)

My condolences...
You can try some of the save editors to make the progress to where you were on each game a little easy though

I lost my game data (My SSB) I actually started crying.
Oh god, I know that feeling..
Although not all that related, my Omega Ruby save corrupted a year ago.. I didn't care about my progress... But I lost so many good Pokémon :( some rare ones included (like Diancie).

Luckily I found out about hax a few months ago, so I was able to "retrieve" some of those Pokémon back.
