So I was going through my computer last night, and I saw that I had a emuNand.bin along with the backup of my old Nintendo 3DS folder that I made when I was migrating my files and nand to a bigger sd card.

My question is, since I have a new 3DS folder (this created a new friend code and everything) could I use that bin file I have made a couple to restore my new emunand to that one? Or will it brick my 3DS since the new emunand I have is on 10.7

Also, that old bin file I believe is on 10.4 or 10.5

If I can't then I'll just deal with. It hurts that I also lost my mii plaza. :l

It wouldn't brick my 3DS since the emuNand.bin is on firmware 10.5? Also I think my sysnand would be different since I did not made a sysNand.bin during that time.
Omg you're saved!! Woopee! First off is the EmuNAND From your o3ds? Is it from your original system? Or from a diffrent one. To restore emuNAND open up the emuNAND9 tool, and with your emuNAND.bin file inject that to EMUNAND not SYSNAND this can result in a brick!

That's correct. I remembered I made a emunand.bin file from when I was switching my data to a bigger SD card. But on that folder I only have an emunand.bin file and not the sysnand.bin. Since I am pretty much running at the moment a new emunand and sysnand.

Could I just restore the emunand.bin to the new emunand I have? I think this would cause my sysnand to be different from my emunand, but would it work?

If so. Do I use the emunand tool in sysnand or in emunand?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions and thank you for taking the time to helping me. I appreciate it lots.

Do you have your NANDS unlinked? If so it shouldn't mess up sysNAND. Because sysNAND is totally separate from emuNAND

Hmmm i think that wouldn't be a problem. There is hope! If your emuNAND breaks it wouldn't be much of a problem. remember emuNAND not sysNAND.

Wait for another member to clarify though, wouldn't wanna brick your emuNAND (Although easy fix, it saves time).

What I'll do then is I'll make an nand.bin of this new emunand and save it just in case it bricks the emunand when I flash it to emunand.

My question now is, do I do the flashing while I am on sysnand or emunand? As in on which nand should I access homebrew?

I of course, would not flash the emunand.bin file on sysnand. But in which nand should I access homebrew to do this?

I don't think it matters, but then again I would wait for another member to clarify that. xD I'm scared i'll brick your 3ds, after mine being bricked I don't trust myself.

I understand. Thank you for taking the time to help me. Hopefully someone manages to give us some insight.

I have not read the previous comments in this thread, but I can say that if you want to use emunand9 to inyect emunand.bin or nand.bin to your emunand, you should run it from sysnand

Got it. But would it be okay to flash the emunand.bin on a emunand that is on 10.7? This emunand.bin if my memory serves me correctly, is on 10.5

I think you can do this. It's like hardmodding, you can downgrade to 9.2 from 10.3 just by flashing your NAND.

Awesome! As soon as I get out of college I shall try it! I shall report the results when I am done!

So steps are:

1-Make a emunand.bin of the new emunand just in case I brick it, I can just restore it.
2-Use the old emunand.bin file I made two months ago and flash it into emunand.
3-After that use the nand folder on the 3ds and paste it to the sd card.

So far so good?

make a sysNAND one too. Don't copy over the Nintendo 3ds folder though!
