I've been excited to get at this game since I first heard about it; the wifi co-op is a huge draw for me, I really can't think of a single other DS game with wifi co-op; it was supposed to be released on October 1 in the US, but was delayed first to December 8, and now to "2009", hopefully we'll get a chance to have it at some point. The only review I've heard about gave it 53%, and said that there's not much there except for retro fanatics, but I loved the original Gauntlet as well as Gauntlet Legends on N64, so I'm willing to accept a game that's not marvelous as long as it retains at least some of that spirit.

Screenshots are available here.

Yep, Dark Legacy is it. That's actually a remake of Gauntlet Legends, the N64 game, so you played the same one as I did, in a sense.

Also, I've just discovered that Gauntlet DS is a demo in the latest DS Download Station. I guess if I can find that (note: not a request) it might tide me over until release.

Wait, Dark Legacy is the same as Legends on the N64? I wish my PC weren't so crappy or I'd give it a whirl. My PC can play most 64 games, but it lags tremendously on Gauntlet.

I was looking forward until I read these two reviews that said it wasn't very good and then I read a review in Retro Gamer and they gave it 81% and to be honest I trust them more, they know retro games more. I'm guessing that with them reviewing it, it'll be out over here before 2009.

If anyone would like a scan of the review I'll post it tomorrow. Its actually a real good issue.

Gauntlet DS looks like it will be pretty good to me, I'm anxiously awaiting it.

There's a download demo of it? Hmm.....might have to run out and scope that.

I played the demo at PAX, and it the gameplay felt like a true Gauntlet game. Hopefully, there's customization, unlockables, and extras to make it more fun.
I'm hoping for something like Dark Legacy. Amazing game right thar.

EDIT:
Also does anybody have a link to a review?

it was "supposed" to be released this summer, July i think, so the postpone to 2009 is probably the 5th or 6th one

It looks pretty cool, also, the full wifi thing seems to be cool. I think I'll give it a try.

Question, is this from the same serie as Gaunlet Legends for the N64?

As I said before, its out in Europe October 31st.

Can't wait to play this and I hope this plays well with two or more players.

Am I wrong when I say that this will be the first multiplayer game for the DS where you both can walk freely around?
Or are there homebrew games with this feature?

This issue is just great, they've got an excellent "History of" Gauntlet & Castlevania, "Making of" Beneath A Steel Sky, big interview from Hideo Kojima and a ton of other stuff.

Amazing magazine, the only one I buy regularly.

I asked at my local EB Games, which has promo boxes out for Gauntlet DS, and they told me it would be out at the "start of November", which lines up with the October 31st European release nicely.
