You're right about the memory vs. money, but doesn't most of the cost of a game go towards development costs? Say SE sold a FF7 remake for $50 on a 1 GB (1024 MB) cart, at 2 million sales they should definitely be able to turn a profit...

*Edit: i know you said that twice the memory means twice the cost, but since the carts will be produced in a rather large quantity...

1 gigabyte is 8 times the size of the biggest current games, and FF7/8/9 would need a lot of work to be ported. People would expect a new translation at the very least, all of the backgrounds and videos would need to be tweaked and rerendered to look good in a lower resoultion, and they *might* need to redo the real time 3D stuff for a lower polygon count.

On top of that, I doubt the market for those games is as big as you think. You need to consider that those games are not all that old, nor are they particularly hard to find. Many younger players that didn't have a PSX do have a PS2, and they can play all of those game just fine on it.

I totally agree with that. The market will be big if only they produce a remake of FF7/8/9, the plain same old game would generate reduced sales in my opinion.

They'll most likley offer multiple methods to do it [I'll bring up Golden Sun, like everyone else - where as you could do the password system but also had the choice to use two GBA systems].

I'm not sure if a password system would be possible - this is Dragon Quest we're talking about here and the amount of customization that goes into your party in this game is supposed to be pretty intense, I doubt a password would be able to contain all of this data - it could, but I'm guessing that it's unlikely.

I do think that the DS to DS wireless communication is a likely possibility.

I think that an even more likely possibility is the option of there being an online element using Nintendo Wifi that the player would upload their save data from cart 1 to some online source setup by Nintendo/Squanix and then download it to cart 2.

Or maybe the games will use Lock-On Technology!!
