Anti-Malware is all a huge scam if you know what you're doing.
My router's firewall does everything I need a firewall to do, and Window Firewall tells me about outgoing connections, so I don't need any bloatware to do a job that's already being handled fine.

as for Anti-Virus type shit, I just run scans every few weeks. (HiJackFree, combofix etc...).
in the event something DOES happen, I've got fucktonnes of stuff ready (AV disc's, *distro liveCD/DVD's, Windows Install CDs, boot tools etc...) and I don't keep important files on my PC (Google Docs etc..). since my %AppData% folder is rsynced daily, when/if I reinstall all I have to do is install a few apps.

Oh, and those stats about PC's being infected every x seconds is bullshit from trend micro.

I work in a computer repair shop and I can personally vouch that Norton is a joke. If people have viruses, they're either running Norton, AVG or some other obscure little AV like CA, which is more bloated than Norton.

Kaspersky, NOD32, Avira, Avast. 'Nuff said.

Thanks for all the help! I'll go ahead and try a few of these out, and will see what happens. (Not all at the same time though, I'm not THAT stupid.)
