hello everyone , been following the progress of this project and i think it is quite impressive
and thanks to everyone who made it possible
biggrin.gif

just had one question , i don't have access to Wii ISOs atm (internet crap issues) , so was wondering , can gold pirated Wii discs be used directly ?
or do i need to rip them and patch them as well ? (a dime a dozen around here .. probably from china or something hehe)

I think you need to patch them in order for the DVDx that you have to use with the loader. From my understanding it sort of converts it to a codec or image that DVDx will read... So to answer your question I would have to say, NO!

The new backuploader.wad that Supercool worked nice too.. I think I can get used to that one for awhile until I learn how to compile the source with my own... but that may never happen either...hehe... I like testing this stuff.... I am still a bit paranoid about bricking my wii though... even though I personally haven't seen a report of this yet and let's hope not.
thanks for the info , i guess I'll fiddle around with backing up my own games first
smile.gif
then test out a pressed game or two
(before anyone yells piracy , i buy what i can , but sadly not much comes around here since wii is practically dead whee i live)

Hate to sound like a Noob, but this Wii Channel does it install the Custom IOS and the DVDx for IOS249? Just want to know so I know what else is missing.

Nope sorry - you need them installed already - this just creates an icon on thr main wii menu for backuploader to save having to go into the homebrew menue each time.

As IronMark correctly stated earlier you will need to rip and patch for them. I have used ImgBurn to rip .. check my signature.

Yea everything worked fine thanks to the packaged zip, the only thing is i had to download the ntsc version of internet browser...Thanks all

Good job - any chance you can share the NTSC version ? I think IronMask asked about it just before your post , and ill add a copy to my zip if its missing .... sharing is caring

At first, a big thanks to djtaz for the HowTo!
grog.gif

haha - the only thing i actually did myself - good man N!mrod - Every file in the zip other than that (bar a few images in the wads) someone else has created - they really deserve the credit on this.

I have updated my zip with the new backup loader channel - but have kept the one with wings as well as i think its good.

I ended up finding that NTSC version DJTaz and if you want a copy... http://rapidshare.com/files/151319108/Oper...-wiivc.wad.html
So you can add it in...

I'd still like to figure out an easier way to play the DVDmovies and the backups a little easier than the way I have been doing.... unfortunately I would probably brick my Wii trying...hehe...I'll leave it up to the smarties...unless someone knows any easy solution.

Also, is there any word to a newer version being released to us testers or has Wiigator abandoned the project as well?

Anyways..my 5 year old was excited to play some new games and when he asked me why I wrote on the DVDs.. I had to tell him it was Top Secret!

Peace.. if that link didn't work just let me know where to upload it again and I will....

On the first page there seems to be an update? Is this an update on the actual backup launcher?

Anyone else have issues with star wars TFU freezing on the load screen/randomly during gameplay? I skip the movies with - but sometimes the red circle at the bottom freezes and sometimes during gameplay slashing people with my lighsaber my wii freezes and I get a constant slash sound lol

Good work w/the loader

Guitar Hero 3: Aerosmith [NTSC] [Scrubbed] [FORCE NTSC 60]:

Running on a [NTSC] Wii

Works great, inside menus slow down in between them and make a freezing noise of the last sound you heard before the loading. (This only happens in the menu and ends once the next menu is loaded up within 2-3 seconds) In game play, I had no need to calibrate. No sound glitches in-game, while the video behind the note-chart is a bit choppy; the actual note chart however is not laggy.

TESTED WI-FI:
Worked fine.

Status: Very playable

About Star Wars FU - I also have that same freezing problem as well... on 3 different backups at slow/auto/max burn.

Hopefully the next update will address some of these type of issues.

And about the games that won't convert with package properly... As in MOH2, CSI... They end up converting from 4.x gb to 1.x gb.

I think we need to keep plugging on the compatabilty list as well...so whoever takes another wack at the source code will know what issues this version is having...

I am sure some of us are getting restless... some don't care because they are against it or already have theirs modded with the chip. The question to me is... If the soft modding was available and most complete what would that choice be then? I like this way better...somehow it just seems safer to me to know that I don't have open up ny hardware and immediatley void warranty and risking a mistake like dropping a wad of solder somewhere it shouldn't have been dropped.. I am not about that! And it's not something you can get the local radio shack to do...

But I think the main objective is to try a keep this going in a positive manner without the politics getting in the way.

Once again, I am giving my gratitude to this site and staff and the ones who are participating with maturity and the ones who are against it not being verbally bias towards the situation.

Does anyone know what this libeay32.dll that the extractpartition needs? I downloaded extractpartition somewhere (Forgot where) and then tried to run it. I am currently trying to use this one to see if it's any different than the one in djtaz's sig. It tells me I need libeay32.dll so I searched google and got it from the dll site. However, it tells me that something within the dll file is missing. Does anyone know where I can get the correct dll file?

Do you need the opera channel for something? It came in djtaz .zip package (thanks, btw, works like a dream) which I installed, but then uninstalled and it doesn't seem to be affecting anything. Just curious.

@ChaosBoi: Have you tried the patcher from djtaz zip file? It works pretty well for me, and it shouldn't give you any errors.

No you dont need the opera channel for this to work - but some people do like to have it so i included it for ease of use.
R-Type is also not required , i just like it.

Just a side note Taz, the DVD dumper, doesn't need IOS5. Since they are installing the other IOS. I love the files you put together though, makes it easy for me to carry around on my usb drive to help my friends get their wii's homebrewy...

If I were you djtaz, I'ld take Opera and R-Type out of your zip file - the homebrew bits are all awesome, and nice to have collected, but distributing copyrighted materials is the kind of thing the mods will frown upon. Aside from that awesome colection - but be careful with the W4REZ!

Yea it is nice to have the opera browser in...what I am wandering is....I hear alot of people are using their PCs to hold homebrew stuff for the Wii to access via network... Is there a way to mount the converted ISO's on a virtual drive on the PC and load them from the wii?

If that is possible. Can someone tell me what I need to do?

Hmmm - didnt realise they were copyrighted to be honest.
I got Rtype in the initial one iw as trying myself so i just left it in and i thought the copyright restrictions were outdated on it now which is why it was there.

Also with Opera since it is available for a free download on their website as a browser , though granted not the Wii version , i didnt think that it would be an issue.

I dont want to be frowned upon - just here to give a helping hand - so can one of the mods confirm whats allowed and whats not and ill remove anything that shouldnt be there ?

Thanks Category

i cant compile extractpartition, i get an error.

make: cc: Command not found
make: *** [extractpartition.o] Error 127

What PC? What OS? What game? Are using DJTaz's zip? Please be more specific.

Sounds like you are not following the easy instructions, but there wasn't enough input to really make that as a real assumption.
