I have seen that program before I know my 256gb sandisk sd card is not a fake shitty 8gb thing.
i am not suggesting its fake (the program can help you find out if thats the case but i digress) but the 3ds consoles are notoriously rough with sd cards you should run the test program to see if there are any errors (corrupted sectors ect)

thank you any way @wormdood

Did you ever use H2testw on that 256GB sandisk sd card of yours? You can never be certain it's not a fake unless you test it.

Do not fall for the pitfall of assuming things. This is coming from someone who has been burned a fair share of convincing fakes that at times, I wonder whether companies like Samsung and Sandisk are in on it, off the books.

I have just check it with windows error checking.

I just did not want to use this tool because I would have to wipe the sd card hmm

if there is another I can use let me know...

Ps @wormdood I am talking to a few people who are good with the 3ds and should be able to help. mate I probably will try that tool if it comes to it and do you know any other tools for checking if the sd card is a bad one.

Copy everything off the card onto your desktop or external hard drive. Reformat it and run it trhough the program. IF it passes, wonderful. You get to have peace of mind of perfectly working hardware. If not, well... You know the rest.

Yes, this whole checking process is cumbersome. There's no way around it.

the read and write speed are good, I do not know if they make them that good TBH but I highly doubt it.
fake cards only go to about 8gb or 16gb, after the 16gb or 8gb they just fuck up and you can not put any more on them even tho they say the 128gb when you put them in.

that app is the best for looking for errors . . . but yeah you would need it empty (there is no way around this if you want to test the validity of your sd card sector by sector)

See, this may be true until it's not. Flash memory is getting cheaper over time as less people are buying the lower capacity stuff. This causes an abundance of stock that flash memory manufacturers will off load to 3rd party resellers. Your 8, 16, and 32 GB will become the new 4 GB of today if not already starting.

You think counterfeiters are going to stop improving their forgery techniques when more people catch on about their old tricks? Gauging speed alone will no longer continue to work.

we can try another way though (if you cant/dont the ability to backup your sd card)

. . . you could look at the files (and within folders) yourself and look for corruption within the files/folders (garbled filenames and/or impossible sized files)

Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 28.7 MByte/s
Reading speed: 22.2 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

I have just formatted the card and tested out a game that did not work before.
It is fixed! I think because this game just worked. it was a bad format tool I used before, that caused the 3ds to not boot up a lot of stuff of the sd card.

my new device again!

@ratmandom,

You may want to follow these threads and keep an eye out if corruption happens again. Make frequent game save backups with Checkpoint and offload onto desktop/laptop for safe keeping. You along with two other users form an incidental (or coincidental?) spat where all three of you have 3DS + SD card appearing fine but something went wrong.
I'm not sure if there's any correlation but should more people present similar problems later, we may have to consider the possibility 2018 systems have higher incidents of bad build quality as production wraps up.

I know about fake cards I have had a few, I know what to look for I can even tell by the packaging. I have seen the fakes and yes the look very similar but I can tell (this card is a sandisk by the way with a nice shiny reflective gold label).
I dont get fooled by them next time I get a card I will use H2testw, if it is fake its going straight back.

fake cards read write speeds are shit and fail all the time and the hold like 8gb, yet when you put them in "what a 256gb card from wish that is a bargain yet I have never seen one on the market that size how do they do that"?

The other two reported their h2testw came back clean, yet they've been experiencing data corruption just like you. Giving heads up that the issue may not be the card, but the 3DS itself. Did Nintendo drop the ball somehow as their parts dwindle in assembling those last units? Take precautions in case something fishy's going on.

there is all ways a way around most this stuff

could have been as simple as having had the incorrect cluster size  . . . but i am glad to hear your all good now :yay3ds:

This is an old thread, I was going to tell the OP to buy a bigger SD card and move everything to that card.

If I am not wrong, you are unlikely to get a fake SD card if you buy from retail because they get their shipments from the companies that makes them. 3rd party sellers, proceed with caution. If they are selling a bunch, suspect. Low price, suspect. Of the seller is reputable and it is the only sd card they are selling, it could be real and they bought it but realized they didn't need it and they might have lost the receipt for it so they are selling it online.
