I'm looking for a cheap, yet realiable alternative to the 1st party Wireless Adapter.

Here's my situation: my 360 is on the second floor, and my computer is on the first floor. There's a pretty decent distance to cover inbetween, so wireless is paramount.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was in the same situation as you; I use a wireless G bridge. It connects to the Ethernet and tricks the XBOX to thinking it is connected to your router directly, but it is actually wireless. It involved no configuration, and I have had no lag on Live caused by it. I also stream my (hundreds) of movies on my Mac to my 360, they play like a charm. It was about $60 Canadian when I got it about a year ago.

I recommend using a compatible wireless router such as the WRT54GL (about $60 USD) and flashing it with DD-WRT so it can act like a wireless bridge. There are cheaper compatible ones than the WRT54GL but I don't know which to recommend.

The advantage to this is you have an extremely stable connection (a router connecting to another router) and it allows for more devices to be connected.

And on top of all that, it's cheaper than the Xbox wireless adapter.

Some people will say they wont work for the 360, but this is a lie. I had the exact same one and it worked perfect for me up until I sold it when I was able to go wired. I would recommend it, as it is Microsoft branded, and a lot cheaper than the one for the 360
How does it work? Do you connect to Ethernet and then its steams wirelessly? I have been in his situation for about a year now and research this on and off. I would love to be on Live at all time for a change.

Yep, it has an Ethernet port on it, and it connects to the 360's Ethernet port, and thats all you have to do (other than having to plug it into the wall)

Do you know if you have to anything to your router? Or will it just find it and connect?

Nope, I never had to do anything, mine just worked right off the bat, no setting anything up

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice

    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.

the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze

    so..... yeah

we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
