Hacking AKAIO 1.2 Released

It doesn't skip it but it does go into the menu without having you to press a button or touch the screen.

in other words it skips it...........

In the same words, it doesn't skip it...

If it skipped it, you wouldn't see it AT ALL (like holding B on startup with a GBA game inserted skips it)

But you do see it... so it has no benefit - you can do that on any card by setting the DS to autoboot. Except that with the TT you can't not autoboot... which makes it annoying for pictochat and download play.
 
I downloaded AKAIO 1.2 for my AK RPG a couple days ago, and i was amazed by the bulk of awesome features, however i haven't been able to run a couple of games like FFIV and Fire Emblem SATK since then. Both just show a WSOD and hang up right after they finish loading.

I just wanted to know if it's only me or there are others who have this problem too and if there is some kind of fix.
 
AKAIO uses an older version of the loader. But it has the ability to use any loader you want. To allow AKAIO to use the latest official loader, grab the latest official firmware and place the "akmenu4.nds" file from the official firmware into AKAIO's "__aio/akloaders" folder. You can rename the official "akmenu4.nds" to whatever you want (something like "ak2_411.nds") so that you can use different loader versions for different games if you want. Then you'll need to set the option for that game to use the new loader to load it.

For the RPG, i believe FF4 needs soft reset disabled.
Some games will need that option turned off to load properly.

all of that is correct but not for the rpg. the way the data is passed to the rpg loader is different and not implemented to akaio. i have spoken with norm about it a few times and support might eventually make its way in. i'm keeping my fingers crossed for the public release of 1.3.

Oops...I didn't read his post carefully enough! Sorry, Another World is correct -- it doesn't work for the RPG!

You should try Gelu's RPG firmware there's a lot more features, and fixes for some games.
 
1.3 might be released officially very soon. there will be no public beta testing because the beta builds have on occasion caused problems. to be honest its optimized code which speeds up some directory listings, external loaders which free up ram and make the closed source loaders external to the whole project, a nand check for rpg, a few other minor fixes, japanese characters, utf8, and gelu's updates patched over. you really aren't missing out on all that much.

That covers most of it, and if i had my way alot more of this would be getting removed (bliss' plugin crap for instance).

i thought it would be a big difference from default acekard OS to akaio OS...

i actually don't know why i'm still around here... i never play on my ds ever since i bought my itouch...

i know i would definitely not buy it, but who knows about those hardcore akaio fanboys out there
 
By the way, will Crosswords DS save correctly under the new version? I noticed with 1.2 that one can complete crosswords without the completion percentage ever rising; using the official Acekard loader works just fine, but not with the AKAIO loader.

I was wondering... Wil AKAIO 1.3 be based on the new AK2 software, or will you keep using v4.07? Not that I really mind (after all, you can use the new loader ini AKAIO), but I don't understand why you'd keep using the old software.
