Hahaha, it's been only a month and the DSi already has a fully working flashcart. Is Nintendo stupid or something and think there won't ever be any flashcarts for it again? Thumbs up to the Acekard team. What exactly did they do to bypass the DSi's security? Anyone know?

Certainly not. The DSi lacks the hardware needed to play GBA-roms.

You have to be joking. The DS needs the GBA hardware to run. Thus it is able to play GBA roms.

As for my opinion, I'm just wondering when they'll make an Acekard RPGi...

Why would you want GBA support?
If you want GBA support get a GB Micro or something similar.

They modified the original AceKard boot sequence code to work on the DSI which can easily be patched in a future firmware update by Nintendo.

Really? Hmm.....haven't thought of it like that. Should other flashcart companies wait until the North American region DSi comes out to be better safe than sorry?

wait wait wait ... hold on ... I just bought a new acekard 2 ... Do I have to buy an acekard 2i for it to work on Nintendo DSi ? ... Someone tell me pleasE

Well, that doesn't really matter since the Nintendo DSi had an updatable firmware now which Nintendo can update over WiFi and DSi games. Meaning that even if a flashcart was made to work on a DSi, an update could be made to stop the flashcart from working anymore.

Yes, the AceKard 2i costs around 50$, it 99.9% identical to the AceKard 2, ur has the same hardware, uses the same loader (Uses the AceKard 2 loader and even AKAIO) and all that was changed was modifying the boot sequence so it works on the DSi.

Yes, you have to buy an Acekard 2i if you want to use any homebrew on the DSi. Your Acekard2 will be blocked by N's Interpol class security.

Hope to see it on Dealextreme ... but for $50 ... no way ... hope to see it around like .... $20 or lower man... ill have to sell my NEW acekard 2 ...

If you're worried about the price, I'd say to either:
1) Wait. The DSi isn't in English at all, all the nifty DSi stuff is region-locked anyway, and as other teams figure out how to get their carts working, competition will drive prices down. Plus, there's always the possibility of custom firmware/loaders supporting loading from the SD slot.
2) Just don't worry about the DSi at all.

As Narin and others have said loads of times before the chances of there being a custom firmware are slim (at the most optimistic) and none.

Affirmative

Which is why I mentioned loaders as well, something like a TIFF exploit to load homebrew like back in the days of the PSP and GTA:LCS or like what Yasu probably did to get his Hello World running.

Freakin' sweet! I just hope NOA doesn't try something to stop it when the DSi comes to the states. Even so, I'm sure that firmware can challenge it. Go Acekard team!!!

If the Acekard team was smart, they would have waited until the US/EU DSi units were being shipped before releasing this info. Now Nintendo is sure to get that loophole fixed by the time us westerners get ahold of the DSi.

my point exactly.

Thats kinda stupid and a smart marketing move. What they should have done is make a pass me like card so all of our older non compatible flash carts would work, but then again they want that money and will make it exclusive until someone else brands a new card. Just wish there was some other way without having to buy a new flashcart. I like to collect a little and have a collection of flashcarts. I already have a DSTT, Edge, AceKard 2, iTouch, and an R4. Not looking forward to another cart that I already have, plus it sounds like they just changed the chip and we dont even know if it will work with DSi software. Sounds 3/4 lame to me. :/

FYI: Normmatt and I both will be receiving units (mine was just confirmed... DSi and AK2i), so AKAIO dev with DSi compatibility will be possible for troubleshooting/additional functionality as it becomes available.

Here's hoping they're making the bootloader upgradable....

AK team makes me eat so much damn crow with their amazing support. I still am not fond of the abandoning of the RPG, but the AK2 has seen compatibility for a budget card that is reminiscent of the M3 Simply/R4DS... but with a more robust menu.

Yeah, no RTS and In Game Guide, but oh well... I've been surviving without it.

Certainly not. The DSi lacks the hardware needed to play GBA-roms.

You need to listen. I'm not talking about loading a GBA rom like a normal DS rom or an emulator, I'm talking about a full conversion of a .gba format file to an .nds file. Nintendo ports their games to other systems often(Remember Zelda, Zelda II, OOT, and MM on the Collectors edition and Super Marion 64, plus mant others), their method shouldn't be impossible to recreate.
