And why not? Let's run over the critiques outlined in the "what is news" sticky.

1 - "New." This is new, this is an update that previously did not exist. It's taken the AK team a bit to come out with it, and it's out now.
2 - "Noteworthy." This is a compatibility update to a popular product on a popular system, it's an update that helps people and is something they'd like to know about. The front-page is for important news like this.

Fits as far as I see it.

This is new, and a lot of people are waiting this.

I has come out, but I see lots of people still waiting it.

This has taken long, and dserves the news page,
