Hacking AceKard 2 from DX

i loved my r4 very much. it did what it said it would do on the box and did it well. now that tream r4 has closed their doors there will no longer be updated firmwares. this means that future roms/softreset/cheats/etc will not run on the r4. i now own the ak2, ak2.1 (both pcb colors) and an ak rpg. the kits are great. norm and smiths are doing wonders with akaio support, and with the ak2 you can use the official loader (which is updated). you can't think of the ak as a step down and you should not compaire it to the r4. they are different kits with different features.

i write compatibility lists for emulators. right now i am working on 3. i take my msd cards in and out of my aks more than 40x a day while testing on a good day and 10x on a slow day (when i have less time to play). the spring has held up on all of my kits, so you shouldn't worry about it. if/when it does go team acekard has a 1yr warranty on their products. a simple e-mail to [email protected] will probably get you a replacement.

When I started looking into a new full flash card (unlike my games n music) I kept reading about two cards. It was either an R4 or an Acekard 2. Reading up on both (and reading the reviews here) I decided on an Acekard 2 not really because I think it's better then a REAL R4 but because of the stuff around the R4.

R4 is dead and there are TONS of knockoffs online claiming they are an R4. I'm not going to spend 20-50 bucks on an R4 that's fake and because of firmware issues destroys my DS.

Since it is dead there is really no development for firmware so the issues I may have with the R4 will always be issues I have with it.

Then I read about acekard and though the casing I do not like so much (but I can tolerate) I love how skinable it is! I've made like 4-5 skins already for it and the list goes on and on at acekard.com.

I love how the firmware is being updated and I can choose to run something besides the official (thank you AKAIO).

I just love how it runs. It's the perfect card for me. Yes every card is different and just because I find it awesome doesn't mean someone else will. Doesn't make the cyclone bad or itouch bad if you choose them. I like my acekard so much I'm giving them as presents to everyone who has a DS or is getting one for christmas (my little nephew) because of the fact that everytime he's around me he's playing my acekard

(paint program).

1. 2.1 in a 2 box is fine. I got mine that way.
2. no one clones the Acekard. It's kind of weird, the Acekard has open source firmware
3. I don't know why everyone likes R4 so much. It may be popular but it has bad features

The RPG's fw is open-source, not the AK2. True, that as of yet, no AK2 clones have been reported.

According to all posts on forums here on GBAtemp, It seems totally real. Although it is v2.1, its probably real. I recently bought one from DX and it should arrive in 10 days! I can hardly wait!

deel extreme doesnt give out fake carts unless u brought a fake cart. EG if i ordered the r4III they wouldnt give me original real r4 they would give me r4III

Team DSTT just doesnt like Dealextreme coz of its cheap prices.

BTW Team DSTT is dieng like dieing like R4 died.
