Hey guys after being a proud owner of both a DSTT and an Acekard 2 I have worked on a comparision between the 2 carts and hopefully it will help you decide which cart is better for you

.

Introduction

Acekard 2:
The acekard 2 is more popular then the R4 now when somebody asks for a cart on these forums people say Acekard 2 the most just like the R4 used to be.Dont take this in a wrong way its really good that people are forgetting about the R4 and moving on now.The acekard 2 doesnt have many features like RTS but still has great compatibility and fixes it also has good cheat support and a firmware called AKAIO well check out Akaio later. It has great homebrew compatibility and is just great for its price.

DSTT:
The dstt just like the acekard 2 is a budget cart which was shortly introduced after the launch of the R4 it had a lot of hype mainly because of its SDHC support. It has sold more than the acekard 2 but now sales are dropping but only a bit.It also has good games and homebrew compatibilty and has 3 Custom Firmwares for it>Its also a good cart for gamers.

Cart Design And Structure

Acekard 2
The acekard 2 is the exact same size of any normal ds game cart but the build quality is not very strong and it can easily break apart. It has a spring loaded micro sd slot which tends to break sometimes. But the new acekard2i has much better build quality but lets not talk about the "i" right now.It also has a nice and shiny sticker on it with the acekard 2 logo on it.

DSTT
The DStt's build quality is slightly better than then the acekards but still not perfect. Its size is a bit taller than a normal game cart but you wil barley notice it.It has a spring loaded slot but i have never heard of the dstt springs breaking butit can so dont get your hopes up

.It has a shiny sticker with the DSTT logo on it and is nice to look at.

Interface/Menu

Acekard 2
The Acekard 2 manu is beautiful its the best ive ever see. When you first turn on the Ds it will go to the main menu with an acekard 2 icon.Press the icon and a smal loading screen will pop up and will take you to a screen with 2 options
Micro SD-When you press this it will go to a list of all your folders you can navigate with the stylus andits is very responsive.
It has the ability to launch nds roms and homebrew with very quick loading.
Slot 2-Starts whatever is your slot 2 most likly a gba game not much to explain here.
It has great skins which can move buttons cloacks and calenders whereever you want so its really good in interface.THere is also a start menu with simple functions like cut copy delete etc.

DSTT
The DSTT will skip the Ds menu and go straight to its menu. You are presented with a list of games and hombrew on your sd card. The files you copides last will be at the end of the list. There is a system option button on top which gives you the following functions:
Deafult Reset
Passme Mode
GBA Mode
Power Off
Brightness
If You press selct on a game you will getthe game settings:
DMA Mode
Soft Reset
Cheats
The menu has not so quick loading but good compatibility

I purchased the same AceKard discussed here for my DSi and so far its been working very well. I haven't been to this site for a while and I wanted to ask if GBA games are compatible yet with the AceKard on the DSi.

Are they compatible with the DSTT? And if not on either, is there any flashcart out there that can play GBA games on the DSi? I miss Golden Sun

No.

No sorry for gba games you need a gba expansion pak but since you have a dsi and there is now gba slot you can at the moment but there might some hack later on.

Hope i helped

Nice review, but incredibly hard to read. Please refrain from the ungodly amount of run-on sentences in the future.

Actually, I also have both, and while most everything is faster on the AK2, I strongly prefer the DSTT for playing DS games. Much easier to use, and picking a game is faster than navigating the menu.

Of course I have 3 carts and 3 SD cards, so I like to swap them out for different uses.

For one thing, Acekard 2 has Moonshell as well. I myself use both akAIO and Moonshell. It's only more expensive by a few dollars, so it's negeligible. It's not hard at all to make the skins, I can make one in 2 hours(because of actually making the images). There ISN'T a spring slot, or at least it's not used. I've had an Acekard 2.1 and a 2i, and I just push the MicroSD in and pull it out with my fingertip, no resistance at all. And what do you mean by "Many defective batches?" And it's build quality is perfectly fine.

Hey guys, I recieved an AK2 last week, and it didnt work. Yeh, I did set it up probably 100% sure of it. I got a refund from DX.

Now, I'm considering the DSTT. All I want is a simple kart which is used for playing NDS games, that's all. In that case, the DSTT will be OK enough for me, right?

Thanks to TC for the comparision.
