No, not like Sony really care about the Vita/PS TV etc.
It's the same thing. Doesn't matter if the title is digital or not. They haven't banned people even if they know you bought it digital or not.syncing trophies of pirated games that don't have physical versions
Can you? Sure. Should you? No. Not unless you use a secondary account, anyways.Does this mean i can play backed up cartridge games online and and even sync trophies on them? Ban risk was the only reason i have yet to make backups of all my cartridges but if sony doesn't care anymore I'm backing them all up today!xD

While there hasn't been any real reported bans from using Henkaku and such, it's still possible Sony may simply be flagging accounts that go online with pirated materials for a future banwave, I would never ever suggest going online with pirated content if you value your main account whatsoever. Create a throwaway and use that if you really have to play online.
Gotcha I completely understand, I didn't mean pirated games though, I meant cartridge games I own and have played online and synced trophies with already legitly playing with the cartridge. Some games have become physical only since they were removed from psn and i wanted to back them up so i wouldn't have to lug them around all the time.
There's an app called virtual gc that creates .iso of the game and runs the game as if the cartridge was inserted.
I've also seen people use the nonpdrm method and just copy contents of cartridge to the app folder as well.
Would these backups still register as a pirated game on sony's end? Or would it be safe to play game fully with online, trophies etc.?
I've been playing game backups from the very beginning on both my PS Vita and Vita TV. I sync my trophies on the daily without issue. I don't use any cheats, and don't really play online (I play mostly single player games). That said, I have played a few games online. In fact a couple days ago I played a game online against other people in a race, and even played multiple matches without issue.
Treat it like you would any online game on PC or console, don't hack and you'll be fine.
I've probably sync'd 50+ game backups and their associated trophies in the past 12 months alone. All legitimately earned trophies (again, don't hack or cheat).
Edit: I should also add that my PSN account has thousands of dollars worth of purchases since the PS3 days, and I don't think Sony would want to ban any of us for simply playing backups, as it may mean we stop purchasing altogether.
