Download and extract the cheat database from the same official website as the kernel+firmware, enable cheats in the flashcard settings, select a game and cheats (yes, they're fairly poorly translated and many are still in chinese), go back and boot with addon
Let's say it's not very reliable, though - the single one I tried didn't work (or maybe I selected something whose single-word description wasn't what I thought would be)

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar -

Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)+1 -

Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
