I've had my wii rechargeable battery packs for a few years and they only went bad like last week because too much dust collected on them and ruined them.

If you use amazon, they have a line of products called amazon basics. I bought a 8pk of those last Christmas and like then a lot. Keep charge pretty well and weren't really expensive.

Rechargeable Energizers all the way. They work great, you can use them in anything that takes AA, not just Wii like a pack would (I use the same batteries in my 360 controller). And you can actually run down to the store to buy them, unlike Eneloops which I've only ever seen online.

I keep a set in my controllers, and another set in the charger, so I'm always ready to go.
