Only if the ARM9 payload needs it. The 3DS firmware has its own screeninit.

ill try switching to the non screen init and see if theres anything i cant do

Anyone with A9LH and an emuNAND needs to just stop. There's no reason to keep using an emuNAND anymore and it's a waste of space for paranoia.
