It seems that I was able to update the card to the new 1.4 using a friends DSL since I will be using it with both a DSL and DSi. The chip works in both my friends DSL and DSi but in my DSL it will not recoginze that chip at all. It does work with my friends M3Real chip without issue. What could be wrong? I have already tried the paper trick with the chip.

check your dsl for a bent pin. your card is obviously not making contact if it works in 2 other systems but not yours.
