Hi there,

FW: 6.1.0 here.

I've been into this problem for months.
Two titles in particular (Into The Breach and Dead Cells) were asking for a system update when launched and I didn't know how to fix it.

I've asked around. It could be a Ticket problem. So I figure out how to delete all the tickets from my system (Goldleaf) but no luck at all.

I've read that someone was suggesting to install DevMenu, go on the game and "reset required version".
I did this and it worked.

1. I installed the game that wasn't working (Dead Cells)
2. Opened Devmenu
3. Choose the game in the list -> reset required fw version
4. Delete the game from the dashboard
5. Installed the game with YES on ignoring FW version
6- It worked

Now I've one more question. I'd like to undestand.
I've tried to install Guacamelee 2 + 1DLC + 2DLC
Same error (A system update is required in order to use this software).

So I tried the above method but I didn't work.
At the end I realized that I can use DevMenu to "clean" the game (resetting the required FW version), but as soon as I install those 2 DLC, the problem comes back.

So
- if I install the game without the DLCs -> It works
- if I install the game with the DLCs -> It doesn't works (A system update is required in order to use this software).

Could you help me understanding what's going on?
Thanks so much.

If the games need higher master keys, ignore the firmware requirements won't do the job. You would need to update the system firmware.

Thanks guys.
I think you're right.

Just two more things:

Anyway, I'm at 6.0.2
Do I have any downside going to 7.0.1?

There's no real downside of upgrading straight to 7.0.1. Make sure you're using the latest version of Atmosphere or Kosmos. To install NSP files from an SD card, make sure you're using a compatible installer.

Thanks mate.
And I should be able to run everygame such as Wargroove right?

I don't know the system requirements of Wargroove, but since 7.0.1 is the newest system version, every game is compatible with it as of this post.

Last I heard (yesterday), no games/updates needed 7.x yet, so you might want to consider going to 6.2 first, as it also has its own master key which some games need, and not everything in terms of homebrew etc has been updated for 7.x yet.

Dev Menu doesn’t skip the version check. If you aren’t on 7.0/7.0.1, install the game using GoldLeaf.

No games need masterkey7 yet, but lots of updates have a soft 7.x requirement that can be skipped. Examples include the latest Smash update and the Trials Rising 1.0.2 update.

Yeah I should have been more specific about "needed", but I was getting up to leave. Yes as long as you skip firmware check, nothing needs 7.x yet.

Update

i've updated to 7.0.0
Everything should be right but sadly I cannot install Wargroov even on this FW.
I've tried both Goldleaf and Tinfoil

Goldleaf: when I try to install the game the app freezes and I need to reboot the Switch
Tinfoil: I got an error (as I did in past with 6.2.0) when I launched the installation - Error code 0x00299002

From Reddit, there is a good description of the same error:
I tried after my original post and it didn't work for me. Goldleaf seemed to just crash the entire system (the new restart to Hekate/payload is awesome!) and Tinfoil would just give me error code 0x00299002 for any NSP that I tried to install. Luckily it plays my already installed titles just fine.

The last thing I've tried is to install it using Goldtree+Goldleaf -> it took 10 minuts to come to the end of the transfer (the bar was almost complete) but it freezed again.

I'm confused. How could I solve this issure?
Thanks again.

Update 2

Following this thread (in french) I've read this passage:

Question: J'ai un problème pour installer un nsp via Tinfoil sur une switch 7.0.1, j'ai un code erreur 0x00299002, une idée ?
Reply: installe via le dev menu

I've tried this.
Installed using DevMenu, then the game doesn't show, I rebooted and it finally is on the dashboard and it works when I launch it.
I still don't know why GoldLeaf and Tinfoil are not able to install it but at least now I can bypass this issue

Hope it helps other people with the same problem.

Which version of gold leaf did you use? Version 0.4 often crashes after installation but the update and dlcs works fine.

0.4 here. :(

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Anyway as soon as I install one of the two Guacamelee DLC, the game is not launchable anymore. It asks for an update... :(
