Is it safe to upgrade my 3ds system to 11.1.0.34. I am using meunhax 1.3.1 on a system with 11.0.0.33. I have no CFW installed. This question may seem dumb.

If you're on 11.0 atm, you either need to get a hardmod (by someone from this forum, there's a thread about it) or do a DSI-Downgrade with another hacked 3DS.
If you can do one of them, i'd say yes, get A9LH and you don't have to worry about all this stuff anymore.

Thank you two for replying. Should I put CFW on my 3ds?
If you can, you should. However, you can't without another hacked 3ds or a hardmod at the moment. One option currently is to send your 3ds in for a hardmod to one of gbatemp's hardmod installers, but it'll cost around $40 I believe.

you can't without some way of downgrading to 9.2 ATM, so unless you have a good bit of soldering experience or another 3ds thats already hacked, no.
Once you have the downgrade, you can do the A9LH route, or CFW with emunand/rednand/(whats the difference on O3ds?). Emunand route takes up a bit more space on the sd card, but I would personally say that the A9LH route takes a bit longer, not to mention ATM you need to downgrade twice.

(also, i think you meant 11.1.0.34 in your first post, so might want to fix that.)

I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
