Surely they just want to stop the current generation of flash cards from working?

That's the only thing I'm worried about

would a new ds stop current flash cast usage? could you still play ds (original) games, do you think?
and if so how long till someone makes a flash cart to fill the void?

Fake. The Mario Kart is Mario Kart Wii. Why would they have a map on a top screen when the bottom screen does just fine? And this would cause lots of broken Touchscreens. Stick with Lite

...wow you guys don't know how to read? i said its a concept -.-. anyways, I think its 50-70% sure there WILL be a 3rd gen ds because not noly the news has been around for a while, this info was in an official japanese news paper.

hm...i wonder if they will come up a way to counter pirating.
I doubt this will ever happen. They would need to have an encryption which only official games have, and coders will easily bypass that if it every happens.
nyways, I found this waaay back, but forgot about it, these are leaked photos of the new ds screen. Since its a photo, I can't(and you can't) tell how much bigger it is from the current screen, but just so you can see:

On the site(http://torrentfree.blog109.fc2.com), they say that the size is going from 3 inches, to 3.25 inches. not much advancement, but oh well, got bigger nonthe less.

lol, funny thing is, i would have never bought a nds if it weren't made so simple to run pirate games

but i think that these big game companies have ways to make pirating very difficult, just look at ps3 which to this day still can't be hacked to run pirated games.

well some one did manage to get it to run burnt ps2 and ps1 games using a disk drive hard mod switch
and there are ps3 backups that have been booted under experimental circumstances

Just watch Nintendo DS sales fall if that ever happened.

I highly doubt that the sales would fall very much at all if somehow Nintendo made a "pirating free" DS upgrade. I've been buying every single Nintendo product since the mid eighties. And there's millions of other people that have done that too. So just because you can't pirate on one of their handhelds(which you know that won't happen anyways), that wouldn't deter many from not purchasing it. Most of us will still by it just so we can play the excellent games they pump out, no matter if we have to buy those games or get to illegally download them.

Anyways, I totally believe a version 3 of the DS is in the makes. I mean, why not? Nintendo knows it will sell, so why not make it. I'm just not convinced yet that the 3rd version is what this article is talking about. If it is true though, out of the new features mentioned I hope it definitely gets bigger screens. I couldn't really care any less about the DS upgrade having a camera or built in music playing capabilities.

I have a feeling cards that skip the menu won't work but cards that appear in the menu like an actual NDS game will work.

They made 3 types of GBA handhelds so 3 types of DSes isn't that unlikely.
And they made 4 types of Gameboy
Game Boy
Game Boy Pocket
Game Boy Light
Game Boy Colour
