I was wondering if anyone took a look into the IR of a Wii U gamepad for the possibility of having a GBC/A or NDS Pokemon game trade with a 3DS via IR? I guess it's kind of specific.
Pokemon games don't use IR "for trading", only for setting up a proprietary local network connection (gen 5-6) or for mystery gift (2), are you talking about some emulator?
Most importantly, the gamepad only has a transmitter, and without a hypothetical gamepad cfw it can't be controlled directly by the console, but is exclusively for TV remote emulation
What exactly do you mean, though? That the Wii U GamePad's IR sensor could somehow be used as a proxy between GB/NDS and 3DS Pokemon games? Doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe I'm reading it wrong. And even still, the Pokemon games aren't programmed to handle such a thing. For that to work, it would take major re-working of the game's code and at the end of the day, would likely be totally not worth the effort.
@Ryccardo
Could've sworn GBC Pokemon could trade through IR; I know I was able to do something with IR and two GBC's.
I figure there would have to be a CFW-related script (or a straight-up Poke-themed emulator) for IR, but I guess that means no one looked into it.

@HaloEliteLegend
LOL, I'd love to see a 3DS emulator for Wii U, but I wanted to know if anyone was working on changing what the IR in a Wii U does and if it could trade a Pokemon from (Wii U) Yellow to (3DS) Gold.
Well, having affirmed that trading is not IR but UDS (proprietary local wireless), the WiiU can connect to 3DS via UDS... but of course someone would have to develop this feature on whichever emulator you use on the WiiU, so basically forget it
@Ryccardo
I'm glad there's knowledge on this. Hopefully after Wii U emulation gets a bump in accuracy (NDS), this (UDS-emulators) can be further looked into and implemented.
