I read a lot of people saying their game froze or won't load etc.

I had a similar problem with EBA even though it worked before and has been on the card since I've purchased it a few weeks ago.

I discovered that all I had to do was delete some other games to make more space on the micro SD. That's it.

EBA worked like a charm again and I never deleted it from the card to fix it. It seems that unless you have around 50mb free then some games will freeze at some point or won't load at all.

I hope this helps people who receive white or black screens and other problems. If anyone else has more tips please add them.

I think it´s more a fragmentation issue than a space one.
But it´s a tip that may work for some people

I never thought of that 50MB free thing before.....I'll keep that in mind.

As for the fragmentation problem, every once in a while, I just copy my whole flash cart to the hard drive, format the flashcard, copy everything all back. It will automatically add each file in a contiguous stream when it puts it back on the card. Instantly defragged...until you add/remove stuff again.

I've not had a problem with my R4 so far but I did have similar happen on my modded xbox. If the drive was too full games running from the HDD would freeze or fail to boot. I left around 20MB free and everything ran flawlessly, so its definitely worth trying for people having problems with the R4.

Ok, I had to try your defrag method after New Super Mario Bros. froze on me at the stage before the very last

I noticed that the micro SD has only 95% space free with about 50mb already used even when the card is empty.

Yerday I recieved my R4 and japan kingston microsd, I was playing tony hawk downhill jam and I got some slowdowns... What's the reason for this? Do I need to format the card to fat32? I used it right out of the box... It is a Japan kingston micro sd card.

0636 Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam (U) (pSyDS) 1.05 Slowdown in races on Kingston 1G (J), Sandisk 1GB (Taiwan), ADATA 512mb. 60 seconds by game's race timer = 74-89+ seconds in real time.

Don't think you can get it to work, just a problematic game with external memory-using flashcarts...

downhill jam is kown to have slowdowns, nothing you can do about it

EDIT: gah, you beat me to it

Tell me how much they cost, I'll be selling them for 35 AUD (25-30 USD) + shipping if anybody wants one.
