So I have another question, could you upgrade 8.1j to 9.2j by hard molding it? Or is hard molding only usable for downgrading?

hardmodding is only useful for restoring a nand dump/making a nand dump

Maybe you could get a copy of a cartridge with 10.3 or less and then downgrade to 9.2 using sysupdater

I was under the impression that game carts do not come with browser updates and my n3ds is browserless

Which I was I was under the impression that you could hardmod the 3ds, update to 10.5 and then downgrade back down to 9.2 from what I've read thats the impression that I'm getting, that way I have the full 9.2 update and can have my entry point be browserhax. I'm just trying to find a solution with what i actually have on hand at the moment.

edit: Is this even remotely correct? Or am I just misunderstanding how this is implemented?

like i said in my first post, you will also need either cn or oot for an entrypoint. a sky3ds could also work for this

you can also just setup a server and update to 9.1 that way (not sure how that works though, was mentioned on the first page)

hardmodding to downgrade to 9.2 is not recommended at all unless you absolutely know what you are doing

OOT only works with native firm injection to get from 8.1 to 9.1. OOT would require you to cart update to 9.6 and then enter hbl.
